Owner description: Named after the fabled lost gold mine, Lost Dutchman State Park is located in the Sonoran Desert, 40 miles east of Phoenix. Several trails lead from the park into the Superstition Wilderness and surrounding Tonto National Forest. Take a stroll along the Native Plant Trail or hike the challenging Siphon Draw Trail to the top of the Flatiron. Depending on the year's rainfall, you might be treated to a carpet of desert wildflowers in the spring. Enjoy a weekend of camping and experience native wildlife including mule deer, coyote, javelina and jackrabbit. New for 2014! A four mile Mountain Bike Loop Trail has opened at the park -- this is a great way to enjoy the park's beauty! The park offers a variety of hiking trails, nature trails, picnic facilities, 134 campsites, a dump station, restrooms, showers, and group use areas. The visitor center sells maps and other publications. Before you hike, be prepared with enough water and proper footwear as the trails are steep and challenging.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities

Had a great time camping at the Lost Dutchman state park with my group of friends. The camp site is at the base of the Superstition mountain and is a beautiful location with the evenings especially awesome. We camped here during month of September so the evening was cool and mid days being hot. Occasional sightings of jack rabbits, harmless tarantula added excitement to kids. The nights were clear and starry. I have not seen any pictures of the campsite here, so uploading few to give an idea of the terrain. Also there are few places to visit around during the day.

Always bring our winter guests to Dutchman for a morning hike to watch the sun rise over the beautiful Superstition Mountains before breakfast. It's become our yearly tradition.

Lost Dutchman State Park is representative of southern Arizona with lots of Saguaro cactus and the mountains in the background. Fee required is 7.00.They have camping, however we didn't stay overnight. This park is 320 acres, we stopped on the way from Canyon Lake, which is in the Tonto Forest National park.

So close to Scottsdale and so beautiful. We loved hiking here. We took a medium level of difficulty trail and it was just right. We were breathing hard on the way up. The views are outstanding (attaching some pictures). Also, when you are here, check out the attractions next to the park, like the church down the street where Elvis starred in a movie. We are planning to visit here again on our next trip out. Add to your trip when visiting the area.
