Ok at best

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jul 2024
The hotel is ok. It's not amazing but it's not the worst I've ever stayed in. It looks like they renovated sometime in the early 2000s and then just never touched the place again. For my needs, though, it was just fine. It seems management sort of gave up on the place and are just letting it run out till there's nothing left. As other people have commented, elevators were broken most of the time I was there. Marriott just needs to put some money into this place. Honestly, it has the bones, it just needs someone with a modicum of care to go in there and revamp it. Let's tear out that terrible carpeting in the rooms and replace it with new carpets. Replace the curtains with nice curtains. Update the furniture, the lamps, the wall treatment, and the bathrooms. The bathrooms look like they were a time capsule from the late 1970s: (fake) wood paneling, beige tiling, black granite countertop, low-set toilet. Elevators clearly need an update too while you're at it!! I do appreciate the complimentary coffee in the mornings. The mattress seemed new, also, so that was good since sleeping well is the priority at a hotel. TV is an enormous flat screen. Kind of laughable considering how outdated everything around it is. I'd like to thank Alexander at the front desk for helping me out. Good guy. It's clear the staffing at the hotel isn't the problem. It's the place itself that needs a refresh.

Room Tip: If you're just there to sleep and nothing more, it's fine.

The elevators were malfunctioning for most of the week of my stay. Staff would reset the elevators and they would be ok for half an hour or so and then fail again. I complained to the front desk staff as I got sick of walking the length of he corridor twice each time get to the stairs. What was needed but didn't happen was for a proper elevator technician to be engaged to fix the problem. I wouldn't have chosen this Sheraton hotel had I know in advance that I would have to take the stairs from the 4th floor most times. I asked for a rebate of a part of the tariff which fell on deaf ears. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The food in the restaurant was good and fairly priced but with a limited menu. Housekeeping was good.

Room tip: Ask if the elevators have been repaired and don't regularly malfunction.

Don’t choose this hotel. Elevators are constantly breaking. Sliding automatic doors are broken on the pool side. Room may or may not get cleaned. Ask for something it doesn’t show up. You need to go to front desk and hope it shows up (like extra towels or pillow). Very disappointed.

Room tip: Parking is free. It’s a haul to LA due to traffic.

We were a little bit nervous staying here after reading some not so complimentary reviews. I was here for one of my best friends wedding with a bunch of other friends and they’re relatives and we had a very nice day. We had a balcony room on the third floor that was pretty nice. Everything felt upgraded except for the tub and shower. That needs some attention, the staff was very kind and the breakfast buffet was good and quite reasonable. The pool area was nice and they had complementary tea and coffee in the lobby almost all day. The bar was not open during the day on Saturday.

Room tip: Some of the rooms are in need of a remodel

Sheraton/Marriott at Agoura Hills has a lovely setting. The pool looks great. Beds are ok. But customer service is set up to be dismal. As an example THIS time, the wi fi wouldn't work. So I go to the front desk to ask what can be done. They say to call Guest Services, and they would connect me to the "Wi-fi help desk." I don't blame the hard-working individuals, butemployees have no rights, to correct things like this.
I have been trying Guest Services for an hour+, and it's continually busy.

Room tip: Think twice.

Room was covered in black mold, I left immediately. Unfortunately, I prepaid for the stay and management is now unresponsive in issuing a refund for the nights I did not stay at the hotel. I have left several voicemails and sent several emails. I am absolutely shocked this hotel is operating under the Marriott name. Front desk staff was lovely, the manager, Todd, is nothing short of incompetent and negligent.
