Niles Hotel is a very unique place to stay. It has a good variety of rooms to accommodate their guests. Each room has a unique theme and decorations. It has a cozy bar downstairs. It is located within walking distance of places to eat.

After years of traveling through the Alturas area I finally was able to stay at the Niles Hotel. I love the authenticity of the property, the friendliness of the staff and the great little cafés next door. If you are in the area for just one night or multiple nights, the cost of the Niles Hotel is equal to any of the other properties in town yet has great character with beverages on site and breakfast, lunch and dinner options right next door. This is a 110+ year old hotel, there are no elevators so be prepared to walk up the beautiful stairway with your luggage.

My room was very comfortable. Best nights sleep I've had in a hotel in quite some time. The decor was fabulous! My room was done up in all old and new train items. Check in was easy and check out was even easier. I would definitely recommend the Niles Hotel to anyone passing through Alturas, California. They also have a wonderful dinning room, full bar and coffee shop. I can't wait to return to see the friendly staff. Thanks to ALL for a great time!

Heated floors was quite a surprise it made our stay quite comfortable in the chilly 7 deg C December month. The hotel staff was courteous and pleasant; easy to talk to and more than willing to help. We were able to upgrade to a suite with ease. If you want to be close to the grand bazaar and other important sites I recommend this hotel.

Welcome to small town hospitality at it's finest. The hotel was basically closed for the holiday with the exception of guest rooms. The owners, Elizabeth and Jim gave us the run of the place for our family gathering. They were absent....as was all the staff but they provided us what we needed for a very successful and fun Christmas with our family.

Since the coffee shop was closed Christmas morning, we made our own in the upstairs sitting/dining area. This was really fun because there were other guest in the hotel and we were able to play host to them for coffee and breakfast.

Our family gathered later in the afternoon for a pot-luck Christmas dinner and everyone said it was the best Christmas gathering ever. We had plenty of room for dining, a comfortable sitting area and plenty of space for the little ones to enjoy their Christmas gifts. It was perfect.

The Niles is the only place we stay when visiting family in Alturas. We are always treated like family and love the hotel and it's history.
