We stayed three nights at the Grand and it lived up to its name.We were on the fifth floor. The room was very nice turn down every night with chocolates. A nice touch. The hotel itself speaks for itself.Starting with a beautiful lobby the great pools. It rained for two days that we stayed there but no problem as the hotel was so nice you didnt mind spending time at the hotel. We ate at the hotel two times had the smorg once and ordered off the menu once both times were very good. The pool loungers were the best we ever sat on.Pure comfort. So in closing it is a pricey hotel but worth it.

We stayed here for a total of 5 days and everyday was awesome! We were a group of 5 and when we booked we were told they would try to get us a premium park or pool view and with bunk beds. That didn't happen and we were never promised that. So we didn't have those expectations in our mind and thus were not let down or angry. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel and we had some very nice sunsets. It was 2 queen beds and a comfy sleeper. We choose to have concierge service, it was worth every penny. On our 1st day we pulled up and valet was so helpful and explained everything to us, we didn't have our kids with us as we were trying to surprise them. So we knew we might not get our room right away. Surprise!! At 11:30am when we arrived our room was ready!! We walked right up to our room and there were envelopes with Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to our family. We explained we were coming back in a few hours with our kids and they said they could do the whole process all over as if we were never there and as we went to leave we asked if they could arrange for balloons to be placed in our room, they said they could see what they could do. So we go get our kids and pull up again, as if we never were there, everybody who we came in contact with knew the big plan and treated our kids so great! The kids were so happy! They were so impressed and for tweens they were overwhelmed with emotion. The kids came into a room filled with balloons, autographs, buttons. We then went to the Craftsmen club. We enjoyed afternoon sandwiches, sodas from cool little glass bottles, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, trail mixes, uncrustables. They had scones with yummy jam. The hosts in the craftsmen club lounge were superb! We were told all about the snack times, and how the drinks work ( 2 adult beverages a person at a time) all of the games, firework times and best time to come. So we went down to the pool and it was a little bit busy but there were some seats, it was clean, towles were warmed, helpful and safe lifegaurds. Hello people, follow the rules and nobody will tell you a thing. We then went back up and had evening snacks in the lounge. Very friendly hostess, Arlene and Natalie are the best!!! By day two they knew my regular drink orders and knew my kids by name. I tipped them for sure and even brought them candy gifts. Mouse keeping was great. I had a very clean room, no bed bugs!!! Mouse keepers arranged my kids animals in cute ways on the beds. One mouse keeper even stayed after her shift one day and found me asked if everything was ok as she noticed we didn't come out of the room and I explained somebody was not feeling well, she said she would have somebody come and clean the room if they felt better and anything we needed they could try to help and even gave me info that the hotel has number to Dr's and hospitals in the area. I was given a print out. Concierge said that the hotel nurse could come up if we needed. Things got better thank goodness. We had a smally tidy up that night during turndown service. Every night chocolates were put on our pillows. Breakfast in the lounge is the same every morning. Continental. There were movies for our family to check out, and not once were our children "chastised" as I have seen in some other reviews. We came during Disney's gay days event and the only time it was uncomfortable was around 12am when a majority of guest were clearly intoxicated and roudy, but nothing obscene at any time. We saw Jane Lynch! Pretty cool. Back to the room... The soaps were pretty nice, and robes were very comfy. I read in different reviews that the remotes do not work very well or not at all, and guess what? I actually got up a whole 3-4 feet away from the bed and changed the channel myself on the TV and things worked just fine. Also a ring around one of the sinks was leaking when turned on and within 2 hours of telling them, it was fixed! The fridge worked just fine, keep the door open on the dresser enclosure and more air will get it running better so it gets colder. We went to the Hotel to relax at the hotel and we had a unforgettable time. We saw fireworks from the lounge balcony along with our desserts and drinks, the light were dimmed and they pumped in the music from the park! We even saw a glimps of tinkerbell as she flew down the castle. You cannot see the castle though. After the Fireworks we walked down our hallway were our room was and we saw the World of color Show from another private balcony! Again they pumped in the music from the show. 2 great shows back to back with just a few people. Make sure to try the free hotel activities. We took our kids on the Grand Quest, our kids had fun with that. They even got a cool treat. We were pretty sad when we left from our trip and cannot wait to go back. It was worth our money.

Room tip: ask for a 22"even" if you want a park or pool view room, we were in a 22 odd room. so I assume of you ask for 2228 you would get a nice pool view.

I just got back from a short 3 night stay with my mom and my 10 year old daughter. Our room was clean, updated, and a decent size. I ordered room service for breakfast one morning, and they gave so much food (I had ordered 2 fruit plates with carrot bread), that we ate the second half of the food the next day.
The pools and hot tubs were clean, and I loved that there were 3 lifeguards at the waterslide pool.
I had a small issue with being given a pool view room vs the premium park view room I had paid for through Disneyland travel. The guest services supervisor told me she would sort it out with Disneyland travel and call me back, and surprisingly she did within 5 minutes, and I was very happy with their solution.
The direct park and Downtown Disney access made the big price tag worth it.

Room tip: The pool view was very quiet.

Stayed at Grand Californian for a change of pace with two kids and high expectations, thinking that it would be a level above the Disneyland Hotel experience (and because the DH is having serious construction). Overall the GC is more expensive, harder to navigate, more limited food choices (why can't there be a Coffee House like the DH?), and haughty staff. The promised bunk beds weren't available, a big disappointment but somehow a cheery "sorry!" should make up for it on a 3 nite stay... This is a hotel with an identity crisis, really strange for a Disney property.

It was a very nice hotel! It was right where you wanted to be to get to Disneyland. Our room very clean and the kids had bunk beds. It was beautiful on the outside and the lobby was amazing! The staff were kind and and it was a very pleasant experience! Our family loved it and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit Disneyland. (the pool is really good, the kids enjoyed it!)
