“Great small zoo!”

Charles Paddock Zoo
Reviewed 13 September 2016

I love this zoo! It's not large and it doesn't take all day to go through it. I buy the annual family pass and enjoy just walking through it periodically. For a small zoo, they have a fair selection of animals including a tiger. Great for kids. The smaller crowds allow them to get up close access to the exhibits and parents don't have to stress trying to catch their children as they run through the crowds!

Relaxing non rushed experience there with less crowd and unique animals. You can cover the entire zoo in less than 45 mins so this is good and bad depending on what you are looking for. The animals are accessible more closer so great option to show it to kids. Few animals like Red panda, alpaca, lemurs, Wallaby, Emu, unique monkeys, unique badgers were something which i have not seen elsewhere. Considering the cheaper admission price, i think it was worth a visit for this small zoo

What a great little zoo. With exception to the front desk staff, the staff were friendly, explaining feeding procedures, animal habits, and allowing my children to pick places to put food for the Fossa in its enclosure. To clarify, my kids were on the outside of the enclosure, the staff was on the inside. The Red Pandas are THE definition of Adorbz! Adorable! Go! Visit now! Get to the choppa! The price of admission was totally worth it just for the Red Pandas alone. Almost everything else was icing on the cake: the Fossa, the Lemurs, the Hedgehog . . . The vulture was disturbing but that's not his fault.

I enjoy visiting small town attractions such as the zoo in Atascadero. While it obviously can't compete with the major metropolitan zoos it still had quite a lot to offer in a very relaxed atmosphere. If you have an hour or two to spare when passing through Atascadero give the zoo a visit. I believe you'll enjoy it.

Lots of improvements have been made, and overall is a great atmosphere. Nice exhibits, summer camp programs look cool.
