Only ~2 mins walk to reach the beach/restaurants and Catalina island tour plaza. ~5 mins walk to reach the catalina express cruises. Good breakfast. Extremely courteous staff and provided suggestions on places to visit in the island. Would recommend this place to anyone planning to stay for few days in the Catalina island.

FIrst, I would like to say that Denise and Jack were the perfect Host, they are the Hotel ownersand were also preparing a light breakfast that was just right. They made us feel welcome and joined our conversation making us feel right at home. Our newly renovated room with a King bed and amazing bath with walk in shower was super to say the least. We stayed two nights (before New Year's eve) and all was perfect. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor with a balcony and close to town all within walking distance.

Since Avalon area has old style buildings. This hotel is nice and getting remodeled. I had a nice stay. The hotel owner was nice. My breakfast was included. In my reservation I got a small room. But they gave me a bigger room with A/C and heater, and refrigerator and microwave. They all came handy. Since, I went in December 2017 it was cold so the heater was great. Surprisingly it wasn't really cold went the sun was out.
If you get a room towards the ocean will be nice.

We stayed here one night during an early December trip to the island. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, but the rooms are pretty sparse, and the floors are badly warped. Other’s complained about lack of AC, but we were cold and there was no heat, or even ductwork for heating. Despite running the water a long time, we didn’t have hot water in the sink until after someone took a shower, which was warm enough. The location is relatively central, and the bed was good. They still use metal room keys, and for both of the rooms our party occupied, we consistently had trouble getting back into our rooms with the keys. Breakfast is very spartan, and is in the space next door. It seemed like the office is closed after 5 p.m. and there was no attendant for the evening. We would stay here again, but only after a lot of comparative shopping.

The lobby is pretty shabby so the first impression wasn’t the best. The room wasn’t nearly as nice as it looked on the website. The location was nice though so we were fairly satisfied. However, on the last morning, I expressed dissatisfaction that our room wasn’t as advertised. The young woman at the front desk was extremely rude raising her voice at me. I will definitely return to Catalina but never to this hotel again and will certainly not recommend it to others! There are plenty other nice places to stay with better service!

Room Tip: Just avoid altogether! Not as advertised!
