We have stayed here numerous times in the past 6 years. We stay here for one night before we leave for Off the Wall Dive Center, and one night when we get off the island.
They have everything we need and it is very convenient to stay there. Close to the airport and the food and bar are right there to make it easy. They are always upgrading and adding to the Resort to make it even better. This year they added more rooms, and are in the process of putting in a pool. Great stop!!

The new rooms are a great addition to the resort! Very clean, specious and all amenities needed for a good stay. Food is amazing as always. Thanks to Rebecca and her wonderful team for hosting us! Definitely recommend.

It took us days to recover from the bites of these little insects - they are worse than mosquito bites, and I have no idea whether you can use insect repellent for them. It is not the hotels fault as the sand fleas seem to exist for hundreds of miles along this coast

The hotels are very pleasant and relaxed with a good level of service. Having said that, all things are relative, if it was somewhere more on the tourist trail, one would be more critical, but here it is as good as you will find

It has a charm of an old world Caribbean hotel, rather than an ultra modern resort, and I liked that

I don't think you would want to spend a two week vacation here, but for a short stay , this is as good as you will get locally

After arriving via boat into Dangriga our arrival to the Pelican Beach Resort was truly a welcome surprise. A beautiful setting on the water with an open outdoor restaurant and bar. Our room was spacious with good AC and a comfortable king sized bed. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was quite a relaxing spot for our overnight visit. And, only a short block from the airport.

There were lots of things that did not live up to expectations being that this hotel is one of the popular ones in the area but after my stay I was disappointed as well as my colleagues.
Firstly, the room where we stayed (room 6) had just been “cleaned” yet it had a really unpleasant scent —as if dirty clothes were wet and were locked up in our room for days!

Secondly, we booked a room with AC. It is a fact that here in Belize during the month of June the heat is ON so bad. Well the AC unit never cooled our room. The outdoors was much fresher than inside our room with AC, which was already smelling funky.

Thirdly, we had previously booked another room with AC for our colleagues. Their AC unit was not working. We informed the manager and they sent them 2 rusty fans and we still got charged for a room with AC.

Fourthly, on our first day, while at the restaurant my colleagues and I arrived first then after a while some foreign tourists came along. The waitress went to them first to take their orders, leaving us (local tourists) waiting. When asking for our bill, my colleague was being overcharged. Side note: we waited over an hour to receive our bill.

Finally, we received once again very poor customer service at the restaurant. Prior to our arrival we exchanged emails requesting a specific breakfast which included: journey cakes, fried beans, scrambled eggs, coffee, natural juice and fruit salad. Our natural orange juice was actually Big H (artificial juice) while we were expecting for it to be freshly made natural orange juice. Also, we were impressed with the fruit salad we got! Our FRUIT SALAD consisted of A SLICE OF MELON!! When we passed by the table of foreign tourists, they were served with fruit salad. I don’t understand why there’s a different treatment since we are actually paying for a service not begging for it. That was only part one. Part two was the terrible service we received by the waitress. She had an attitude while serving our breakfast, was not polite and very disrespectful. She literally grabbed the plate without even asking if we were finished with our breakfast! As well, we informed the staff we wanted it served on a certain time since we had an itinerary to follow but they served it on a letter time making us to be late on our meeting.

I’m glad we only stayed one night because the services offered were terrible plus we felt discriminated since we were trying to support our local entrepreneurs but received an extremely bad experience.
