Ever want to be a beach bum? Live in a thatched cottage, walk the beach just out your door, swim in the sea and doze in a hammock? Peaceful living at its finest. No frills, no jet tubs or jet skies, but there are sea kayaks and bikes for free. Meet your neighbors, play volleyball with the locals, pick up a guitar or drum and join in the fun. Our hosts treated us family, except they did all the work cooking, cleaning, arranging excursions to Mayan Temples and snorkeling adventures. They knew everyone by name and our preferences. Good local cuisine both at the Green Parrot or walk up the beach to try something else. Do try the local beer which you can ask be served in a bucket of ice to keep it cold too the last drop.

Room Tip: We liked the more rustic thatched room cottages, but all the cottages have great views and ocean access.

Good price and right on the beach. The cabana was a great size with plenty of room for our family of four. During our couple of days there, we were turned off by an awful smell of sulfuric smell. Kind of ruined what was a nice location for us. Kids enjoyed the hammock at the cabana as well as the couple on the dock. Very friendly staff.

Thanks for staying with us. Not sure what the sulfuric smell you mentioned was. The only guess is it was sea weed that had washed in. We do appreciate your business.

The resort is nice and tropical and clean. The room was great. The ocean view is great. We went on Easter weekend so the rates were high. The food at their restaurant is average and expensive. The included continental breakfast was a piece of fruit and toast or a piece of cake. You get charged $20 USD for a ride into town to catch your excursions. Way too expensive. Should be included in the room charge. Leo was nice when we first arrived but after that, was not. He seemed to try harder when the owner was around. I would not go back. The food was too expensive and there is not much to do unless you pay for an excursion which is very expensive for what you get. The wifi is also hit and miss.

When we book tours for our guests, the price of the transportation is included. When you go to the village and arrange tours on your own, the operators will not tell you that you will have to pay for the transportation. Our food prices are competitive with all of the restaurants in our location. Thanks for taking the time to write a review about your visit.

I found a lovely cabana on VRBO (Carribean Delight Beach Houses) that was essentially on the Green Parrot property, but not part of the Green Parrot lodgings. Loved the cabana, but I am writing this review to commend Leo and all the staff at the Green Parrot who treated us like royalty and as if we were their guests. Leo picked us up at the Placencia Airport and he booked all of our adventures for us, i.e. Snake River excursion, snorkeling, kayaking, etc. We ate at the Green Parrot restaurant daily - sometimes twice because the food was so delicious and the staff was so kind and friendly. By the time we left, it felt like they were family. The view is as spectacular as all the photos indicate. We arose every morning to sit on the quiet beach with coffee and watch the sunrise. It was everything I dreamed and when I return to Belize, this is where I will stay. The last day there I decided to get a massage. Leo ordered it for me and the massage therapist was fantastic. She was born in the US, but had lived in Belize for 24 years and said that the Green Parrot was the best spot on Maya Beach. Relaxing, tranquil, friendly, yet near to groceries, restaurants, and lots of excursions. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Room Tip: If the Green Parrot is full, try the Caribbean Delight Beach Houses. This is where we stayed.

We stayed here with our 5 year old for 4 nights while visiting Belize for our 1st trip. The sunrises can not be beat. Every morning a pod of dolphins would swim by which is always fun to watch. We had breakfast here everyday and drinks as we laid on the beach. They have a nice dock and a clean sandy beach. The service was always great and the manager Leo was very helpful. The wi-fi always worked well when in the restaurant and was a little spotty in the room but that was no big deal. It's located close enough the the village without being too close, Which we loved. There is a well stocked larger grocery store about a block south, an easy walk. We used the free kayaks daily to snorkel just off shore. We saw nurse sharks, red starfish and a few turtles. The rooms are "rustic" but we only used them to sleep and sit on the porch in the hammock. We had nice hot water, a fridge and utensils/plates/paper towels. The beds were comfy and there is no need for a/c, the fan provided was fine. We would definitely sta here again. For the price, it was a great value. We drove to Cockscomb to hike and to Hopkins for lunch, they were both an easy drive away.

Room Tip: Get the 2 story room, it's more spacious. All have great beach views.
