Wow! This place is amazing. A respite, especially for those from the states or Europe in the midst of the beautiful people and town of Santiago Lake Atitlan.

The views are spectacular. The food is amazing — try the great desserts and ice cream.

From our arrival to our departure we always felt cared for and like we were just part of the family. Dave is an absolute gem! This place not only offers an excellent space to relax and enjoy the splendour of Lake Atitlan, but I was so pleased to learn about all of the amazing work that Dave and his Mom had done to support their community. When you visit go check out Nino's school! The rooms were well kept and well designed. We never felt the need to eat in town because the restaurant is fantastic! We had zero issues traveling here with our 8 month old daughter, and I wish we stayed longer! This is the place to be on Lake Atitlan!

Room Tip: The Maya room has a wonderful hammock for afternoon naps!

There were 6 of us who stayed in the Villa for 4 nights to visit and collaborate with local schools. The accommodations were perfect for our group. It was a house with 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms for 3 couples and plenty of space for us to work together on our workshops. We only ate in the restaurant a couple of times for breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent.
While we didn’t have WiFi access inside the villa, we did have internet immediately outside near the pool, so it was easy to step out and work there when we needed WiFi.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Posada de Santiago. We stayed at the Villa, which is a large home adjacent to the Posada. David was a most gracious host and he and his helpful and friendly staff ensured our stay was as comfortable as possible. Amazing view of the lake, beautiful grounds and fantastic food and drinks. We appreciated their knowledge of the area and support of the local artisans.Would love to go back to stay and spend more time in the area.

We have stayed in some lovely places but once in a while one stands out as being particularly special. This was it. Posada de Santiago scored in so many ways; its beautiful location and gardens, well thought out facilities, superb food, etc. etc., but there was something unique about the Posada and I think it largely comes down to the owner, David, who enjoys a very special rapport with his staff which then filters down to affect the enjoyment of all who stay there.

Just a few examples of this: the staff referred to "the boss" with the biggest of grins and pride on their faces. They were always laughing, even when hard at work. We were given an upgrade to one of the cottages because Casa Orquidia was having some work done to it at the time of our visit. We found David enjoying a cold beer by the lake with one of his staff who had been working hard there all day "because the guy deserves it". It was typical of this charming, "say it as it is" guy, who is as easy with his guests as he is with his staff and who has created the most beautiful of hotels here on traditional Santiago Atitlan. His investment in his staff has paid dividends which are all on show as you enjoy the flowers and gloriously tended gardens or tuck into delicious meals in the restaurant.

So much has already been said about the Posada in other reviews that I won't repeat it all, other than to say how much we appreciated the thought given to the comfort of guests, without spoiling the genuinely rustic charm of the surroundings. The filtered water in the rooms, the continuous cascade of flowers everywhere you walk, the absolutely superb meals in the restaurant, all, as you'd expect, served with a smile. They come naturally in this place.

We appreciated the pool and the hot tub with the amazing view across the inlet to San Pedro volcano; in fact, we loved everything about this place. Really hope to return to Guatemala soon and when we do, this will be the first place we return to. Thank you David and your lovely smiling, happy staff.

I am blushing. Thank you so much for your kind words. My goal has been to improve the lives of as many people as I am able, beginning with our staff of hard-working and skilled employees. We've been here long enough to reap the benefits of our labors, as the employee's children are now graduating for colleges.
