Fantastic place to stay in La Ceiba. Wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, and John and his wife are truly amazing. We rafted two days in a row and went for a great hike in Pico Bonito. Everything was in walking distance from the B & B.

Thank you for your kind words Michelle! Soledad and I truly enjoyed having you as guests at La Villa de Soledad. We are blessed with an ideal location, where there are many different activities that are within walking distance. The Cangrejal River truly offers outstanding white water rafting with a very scenic backdrop. Glad you liked Soledad's food and the atmosphere at our Bed and Breakfast. Soledad and I thank you and Nevada for taking the time to share your experience with the community at Trip Advisor! Hope to see you back soon!

We've all done it. You chose a place. You are not 100% sure. You pitch up and hope that it's going to be up to your expectations, and not fall flat. You won't be disappointed with Villa Soledad. It's a first class B&B in a remote part of the Cangrejal river valley.

What makes it special? It's a lovely spot, sitting comfortably on the hill surrounded by tropical forest, with carefully manicured gardens to give you vistas, protection and views.

The host, John, is perfection. He'll chat comfortably on any topic when you are shooting the breeze; and then he'll melt away when you're reading or sorting out photos on your computer; but he'll be back in an instant if you need help, a ride somewhere, some advice, or some arrangement to be made.

The hostess - Soledad. Everyone would love her to be their Mum! Happy, confident, accommodating, and such a great cook and house manager. You can see her love expressed in her children, and she shares it abundantly. And did I mention she was a fabulous cook, not only doing breakfasts but dinners too?

When you leave Villa Soledad you'll be hoping or planning to return.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, with doors to verandas; some with hammocks just outside

Thank you for your kind words John!
It was a pleasure having you and the group for a few days. Soledad and I truly enjoyed hosting you at La Villa de Soledad.
I hope your trip back home was pleasant and that all the bags made back! Soledad and I would love to have you back to explore our area and stay with us. Hopefully next time around you will have more time to hike, or discover the many different activities that are available at a short distance! See you soon!

Great location, great activities, great hosts. We stayed here two nights with four kids. It was wonderful. Spent a day hiking in Pico Bonito park, with the entrance just down the road from the house, and spent the second day rafting on the river. It feels like your own house. Wide open terrace, good food and great hospitality. John and Solidad are very friendly, flexible and clearly love their job, hosting people and showing them Rio Congrejal (what a jungle). John speaks perfect English. They picked us up in Ceiba, and drove us to the airport when we left at 6 a.m. Clean and pretty as well with large rooms. My only recomendation would be to have an A.C. in the room. Most of the year it's fine without, but can be a bit hot at the hottest part of the year.

Dear Busymom:
It was a pleasure having you and your family stay with us for a couple of nights. Its always music to our ears when guests rave about our home and hospitality. Soledad and I hope you enjoyed this area of Honduras which is so different from Tegucigalpa, and hope to see you back soon once the rains start and it cools off a bit. The truth is that is was hot those couple of days! I hope you all made it home back safe! The dogs were sorry to see the kids go!

We stayed 4 nights with John and his wife Soledad who are very lovely people and do everything to make your stay very pleasant. The location of the place is unique, in the middle of the jungle, you can hear and see exotic birds from the garden and look down to the Cangrejal River which is a very scenic view. The tranquility can be enjoyed in the garden's hammocks and if you feel like having an adventure, then ask John, he is there to help you find the perfect activity in the surrounding area. We went for a 3-hour hike through the rainforest to reach a beautiful waterfall and see amazing nature. The next day he sent us to do Whitewater Rafting which was amazing too. We had an awesome time, a mixture of pure relaxation and adventure. We are forever grateful and would go back any time! Thanks for everything, John!

Room Tip: Bring your hiking shoes, it's a perfect destination to explore the national parks in the area

I was lucky enough to travel to Honduras for work. We were all extraordinarily lucky to stay here. Soledad, the amazing woman the place is named for, treated us all like family. She is an outstanding cook, you must try her Mole- the best I have ever had and I've had it in Mexico and Los Angeles at numerous places. Not only that but she lights up a room with her energy and smile. It's like having a second mom, she watches out for us, or did for me and always is there with whatever you need, before you realize you need it! John too, her husband is a incredibly friendly man with a lot of interesting knowledge of the area and a great conversationalist. He also knows everyone in town!
The beauty of the land they have and the gorgeous landscape on the property is just breathtaking. Simply awesome to be in this jungle and feel so cozy and taken care of. All this, with fast wifi and a view to die for from your hammock!
Everything from the property to the food, to the service and especially the company of these two people and their family was just perfect. If you are considering visiiting this area do NOT miss a stay at Villa de Soledad!!!
It's a memory I will have forever and I can't say enough good things about it.
