Holidayed during Ramadan so the hotel pretty quiet - just what you need after long, hectic nights in the souks! Staff are friendly & yes their 2nd language is French but their English is very good too - easy to be understood!. Clean, tidy rooms with TV, Aircon, bath & hand held shower, hairdryer, soap, shampoo, balcony. Cleaned & towels refreshed daily. Pool is clean with plenty of loungers, shower & manacured gardens. There are a few resident cats one of which was pregnant with a kitten already (cutest thing!), so if you are an animal lover, please take cat kibble! (There are many strays around town too & the locals don't mind you feeding them). Breakfast is Mediterranean style plus eggs plus local pancakes, fresh orange juice & mint tea. Food can be bought any time of day. Alcohol is available too even during Ramadan (25DHR bottle local Flag beer-nice). Especially if you are staying for a while, I would highly recommend this hotel - you couldn't get one with so many facilities situated in a better place to explore all of Marrakech! Situated approx. 5 mins from Koutoubia Mosque (not noisy enough to wake you in the morning - that'll be the birds instead!), 10 mins slow wander to Jamaa El Fna square - all action at night with restaurants, street entertainment, souks. Taxis directly outside hotel. Airport taxi should cost absolutely no more than 100DHR - try...Holidayed during Ramadan so the hotel pretty quiet - just what you need after long, hectic nights in the souks! Taxis directly outside hotel. Airport taxi should cost absolutely no more than 100DHR - try for 70DHR. Anywhere around the medina & even to Guillez about 20DHR. Taxis will offer tours around the town. We took one for approx. 3 hours for 25DHR each! so please haggle. Around town: Kasbah Artisinal (set price shop) free entry, Bahia Palace very good 20DHR entry, Sadian tombs ok 20DHR entry, Majorelle Gardens 75DHR entry. Guillez worth a visit - (modern part of town). From Hotel Chems, it took us 20 mins to walk (moderate pace). Water show every 15 mins each evening next to the Mall. Restaurants aplenty, lovely gardens down centre of dual carriageway, totally different vibe to the old town. If going during Ramadan, alchohol can be purchased from 'Carrefour Almazar' - 30DHR taxi. Take your passport - you can visit as often as you like.More
