Description: The Amal Women's Training Center and Moroccan Restaurant is a non-profit association dedicated to empowering disadvantaged women via training in traditional and modern cuisine. The ultimate goal is personal transformation, skill set re-enforcement, and job placement for economic and social stability. At our second center in the Targa neighborhood, we offer cooking class in traditional Moroccan dishes such as tajines, couscous, and pastilla. An all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet is available in Amal Targa center every Saturday.

It was a sunny morning, we arrived at Amal's second training center by taking a taxi. The driver didn't really know the location so we called the center to talk to the driver.

There were a total of 6 participants in the cooking class. Altogether we cooked Chicken Tagine, Beef Tagine and Couscous with Chicken. The instructor was a chef at the center, who was a local Moroccan woman. She didn't speak English so there was a volunteer translating for us.

We spent the whole morning cooking and touring at the center. The food was ready at around 12. In fact, these tagines and couscous were the most delicious I've tried in Morocco. The ingredients were fresh and abundant, which I think is rare in the restaurants on the street.

We went to Amal Association mainly because of it concept and they didn't disappointed us. It was a very good lunch, outside on the patio with good food and friendly staff. The juices are great and natural, no place to complain about anything. It's a little bit out of the road but we definitely recommend it.

3 girlfriends and I visited the Amal centre, expecting just to brush up on our Moroccan flavours , fortunately we were surprised with the most memorable and invaluable experience. Not only was the food amazing but the whole experience was. We actually went to the wrong location, they were kind enough to transport us to the training facility where we were taught about the principles of the Moroccan palate and also learnt how to make our chosen dishes and most importantly, were educated about the centre.

Our guide Hind, who is a volunteer there, was so full of information and enthusiasm, she answered all our questions eloquently and was able to provide us with some helpful (non culinary) tips. Our chef, chef Fatiha was very passionate and also very funny, despite the language barrier!

This was much more than a cooking class, the location is so peaceful and serene, worlds away from the manic of the Medina, not only are you learning but also helping out with an extremely important cause.

Empowerment to women all around 

Such a lovely experience. A very calming environment and great quality equipment and facilities. It's a really worthwhile cause to support and I would definitely recommend to friends.

I would suggest the school find ways to be more helpful in arranging transport. There are to locations and it is very tricky to explain to a taxi the location of the cooking school as it doesn't even have a defined address. I would have rathered may money to the cooking school to have arranged a taxi than the stress of trying to arrange one on the street in the morning.

Great fun for a noble cause! My husband and I had much fun learning to make Moroccan salads at Amal and we ate what we made for lunch. I never knew beet salad can be sooo good. We also made other salads with carrots, eggplants, tomatoes, and other local produce. The property is gorgeous, clean, and charming with orange trees, lemon trees and flowers. The stunning bright purple bougainvillea around the property took my breath away. Chaimaa, the Communications Manager, was a charm. She clearly walked us through the cooking experience. I strongly recommend Amal for a unique cooking and eating experience.
