Set in a home converted into a restaurant , this indian restaurant is fairly good . The lady who runs this place is very solicitous and welcoming. The open air seating is beautiful but we did not sit outside as the weather was chilly.
The dal palak was superb but the butter chicken was a bit on the sour side.
Desserts delicious ! Specially the kulfi
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We appreciate your feedback. We apologize for the Butter Chicken. We only use fresh tomatoes and unfortunately we were unable to source the correct tomatoes.
We hope to see you back at Spice Lounge soon.
Although they do charge around twenty bucks for a lamb curry, before the rice, it's a pretty spectacular meal. The butter chicken is also rather special. Lovely place for sitting in the garden in summer, warm inside in winter, good service and tasty food every time.
Thank you for coming glad you enjoyed the food. We look forward to seeing you again soon at Spice Lounge .
I ordered butter chicken, cucumber raita, and two sides of naan. All the portions were small but the naan and raita were particularly underwhelming compared to what I am used to. There were two small pieces of naan in one order and three smaller pieces in the other order, and the raita was a very small portion (maybe 1/4 cup). For the price I would have expected at least twice as much of each. The chicken was OK but strongly tomato-flavored at the expense of the rest of the traditional flavor profile. I haven't eaten other Indian food in Harare so can't compare with this city, but compared to Indian in Rwanda and Uganda I was disappointed. (I ordered for delivery so can't speak to the service; it arrived in a fairly timely fashion.)
Thank you for your review Ruth. It only helps us to better ourselves to serve our customers.
Unfortunately you had ordered through a delivery company called Munch and the level of spice was sent as mild. Mild would not have much spice or chilli.
We will look into the portion size.
This place is SO tasty and also beautiful. From the roadside it is very unassuming, but when you walk in they have tables set up in the garden which is so pretty. The service was outstanding, and the food was soooo good. The portions were very large, and I had enough for 2 leftover meals (find some more naan though- you will need it!). I will definitely come back.
Thank you for your feedback Marisa. On behalf of the Spice Lounge team, we are glad you enjoyed the food and service. Please do come back again.
