I stayed here for a workshop and subsequent work in Bujumbura and elsewhere. I was impressed. The hotel has everything you need, and some other nice touches.

The rooms are large and spacious, with balconies. The beds are also large, with big mosquito nets positioned in exactly the right place to fit easily over the bed. This is a definite plus - so often in this part of the world you have to somehow make do with tiny nets that don't fit the bed (you know - the sort of "small pyramid" phenomenon). The bathroom is clean and adequate, and hot water is mostly good (although worth noting that there can be problems when others are showering at the same time: alternatively boiling hot and freezing cold waterflow, depending on who else has their tap on at that momen).Air conditioning works well. Wifi is free, and very fast. The staff are extra-friendly and the food is good. The common areas are quite nice - a big garden area with lots of places to sit and chat, a smaller outside/inside bar, and even a small and clean swimming pool. The food is very good, although not particularly cheap. I was there for a workshop (as many other people also seemed to be), and those facilities and arrangements were good.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the décor could do with something of an overall. It is clean and new-ish, but just doesn't really "do it". Nothing matches, everything veers towards the nylon-y / satin-y side of things. But maybe that's just a matter of taste. My other small complaint would be that the bathroom windows open onto the inside corridor and are left open after room cleaning, with curtains also open. As you walk along the corridor in the morning you can see your fellow residents showering (although only from the neck up) and sometimes hear some rather more intimate bathroom noises than you - or the occupants - might wish.

Room tip: My room faced the road and was quiet. Some of my colleagues whose rooms faced the inner garden complained that the (frequent) weddings and other events could sometimes make things a bit noisy.

Really pleasant hotel. The service is amazing! The place is calm and relaxing. The breakfast is usually a self-service with a large choice of food. As for the dinner, the plates are delicious.
However, the hotel is missing some "cachet" as for the decoration. Also, the relaxing music in the yard can be sometimes really annoying (especially at 6:30 am). Anyway, still a very a good place to stay!!

The hotel is clean and beautifully landscaped. The food and coffee are excellent. The cultural performances by energetic young men and women crown a memorable visit. Its neighbourhood is above all quiet.

Room tip: Choose a room overlooking the poolside

The Royal Palace hotel is a small hotel with 32 rooms only. The rooms are spacious and clean. All rooms do have a view at the very nice and clean garden and a swimming pool.
I stayed the first week of October 2013.
There are 3 large very well equipped conference rooms.
The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood 10 minutes from the city center.

Room tip: All rooms are equal with balcony and all modern facilities and do face the garden and the pool.
