I had an overnight stay at Hochland nest this past weekend and I was pleasantly surprised that a place this majestic has been soo close to Windhoek without me knowing it. The welcome was warm, the staff were the most friendliest I have honestly seen in a long time. The chef made a very delicious dinner.

We were fortunate enough to be the only couple at the lodge which made our stay extra special. I definitely recommend this place to tourists and locals.

Well done to the management.

This lodge deserves much more attention from tourists than it is getting now. Wonderful location with calming view over hilly landscape, many animals, meercats visiting during breakfast. Some of the chalets, this has been mentioned in other reviews repeatedly, could do with some modernization - but this does not really disturb the overall good feeling..Note that the pool is small, more a large plunge pool, the picture on the website is a bit misleading. But this is just right for the dry environment. The food is absolutely perfect, the chef is such a nice and helpful lady.
The lady manager is wonderfully friendly, tries to accomodate all your wishes. I had a small medical problem, management gave me medication and called doctors for advice,
There is one isue management should be aware of: the place should not be used too casually, because this might easily disturb other guests, and they should make clear that there are some rules (for instance for the pool: nobody should be allowed to step into it with the slippers on etc.).. But, to sum up: the place is great and so are all the persons in the lodge!. Thanks for a nice stay, we will be back.

It is a nice lodge on a hilltop overlooking a watering hole. The chalets are nice but a little rusty. Staff is friendly. It is not a place for disabled people because you have to walk quite far from the parking lot to the rooms. It took us a lot of effort to bring our suitcases to and from the room. Food okay and weak Wifi.

Hochland Nest is located not too far from Windhoek. If you arrive and do not want to be in the ciy for your first night, Hochland Nest is an excellent option. It is not difficult to find and the location is stunning and feels very remote. A great way to relax from your (overnight) flight. We were the only guests, which added to the feeling of remoteness and silence. Reception was kind, even though we were early we could go straight into the room (we had the deluxe room). Room size is good, bathroom size, too. The lodge consists of several thatched buildings, each with their own deck and a lovely view over the water hole and all rooms are quite private. There is a bar area near the plunge pool. Be aware that early in the season (september) the pool hasn't quite warmed up so it was quite cold. At night, the water hole is lit so you might see some game during dinner. Our dietary wishes were acknowledged and confirmed upon arrival. Dinner was good, quite Namibian. Do not expect 'high cuisine' here but you will certainly enjoy dinner. We had an excellent night's sleep and woke up refreshed the next morning. Beds were good and duvet and linnen, too. The breakfast was good, maybe not the most options in cold breakfast I have ever seen. But the hot breakfast was very tasty. It is true that due to the setting, you may have some problems getting your luggage to the room. The staff do help, if required. The pathways are a little uneven and there are steps to your room. But once you are settled in, Hochland Nest is a quiet and nice place.
There is free Wifi, but the range does not extend to the rooms.

The location (50 km from Windhoek) is perfect for a short well deserved breakaway for locals, and tourists wanting to experience luxury in the Khomas Hochland. The service is a attentive and friendly by well trained staff. We stayed at the Lodge in the chalets, but camping site are available for the more adventurous. The climb to the chalets could be a challenge if you have a problem climbing several stairs. The food was excellent, and drinks can be enjoyed at the open fire place in the evening or at the splash pool and bar. Animals such as kudu, oryx, wildebeest, blesbokke, warthogs, zebras are abundant if f you are lucky, you may even see a leopard. The secluded, exclusive and luxury self-catering chalet at the dam is absolutely fabulous and perfect for fishing (private jetty and small boat with electric engine included), photography and some soul searching. I will be back soon...

Room Tip: Lots of stairs leading to the chalets up the mountain. Ask for one with less stairs if you have any trouble climbing a few stairs.
