Well I just came back from this lovely tour undertaken by me in Bhutan. One day tour which I will recommend to everyone will be a visit to Haa Valley. The very drive to this place is so beautiful. The moment when you reach there, and step out of your SUV, the pictorial valley does you in, post that You are completely mesmerized by the beauty of the valley. The valley cannot be explained and described in words, and it for sure is a must do day tour in Bhutan. Thankfully for me I hired the right company yetis and dragons bhutan travels who added this day tour themselves, and later I realised how beautiful the valley is.

For this day tour you have to Get up early to drive to Haa via Chele-la pass which is located some four Km away at Bondey village, the road towards Haa turns towards the right and climbs up towards the chele-la pass. There you will come across lush pine & rhododendron forests for about 45 km to reach Chele-la pass (3822 meters above sea level). Do request your travel company to arrange a picnic lunch at Chellela passes. and on the way back do walk to Chellela Nunnery to complete the experience of Haa Valley.

I had the amazing opportunity to visit Bhutan for a 10 adventure and wanted to give my highest recommendation for our guide, Tshewang Rinchen. He is an extremely knowledgeable guide who helped organize a fantastic and well orchestrated tour balanced with culture and trekking. Tshewang has a complete command of language skills needed to travel in a country where explanations of the local culture and history and religion are required for any westerner unfamiliar with Bhutan. Get in touch with him www.tours.com.bt and go to visit this wonderful and magical country. J. Silverman

Bhutan is really Shangri-La – magnificent views, interesting culture and above all very courteous people.
A visit to Bhutan is organized thru an agency – The agency is responsible for the itinerary, guide, driver, car, hotels and food. The price is fixed but we find out that there are different in the quality of service you get. So choose your agency very carefully. The government website is very helpful: http://www.tourism.gov.bt
Some tips:
Agency - We were unsatisfied with ours (Yetis & Dragons Bhutan Travels) To understand what can go wrong our agency send the guide with wrong version of our itinerary, the date of the festival was wrong (we were lucky that our guide has told us that and modified the plan that we'll be in the right place at the right time...), some of the hotels were below the level promised, they made us pay for water and more
From talks with other tourists we can recommend "Bhutan travel service" and "transcend Travellers"
Guide - You can ask for a recommended guide - our guide Kinlay (a female guide) is highly recommended.
Hotels - Ask for specific hotels; check them on-line before. We can recommend:
"Jakar Village Lodge" in Jakar Bumathang and "Yangkhil resort" in tashipang Trongsa
Itinerary - It is possible to modify the itinerary - mix cultural with nature or whatever you prefer, Lonely planet is very useful and a good agency will help as well.

If you have the open-minded curiosity for better lifestiles you should explore Bhutan. See Paro (the phenomenal airport), Thimpu (the capital) and Punakha (the old city to the East), but above all, meet the people (English language works fairly well) in towns and country-side, learn about Gross National Happiness as an attractive alternative to traditional GDP, explore the true meaning of national self-reliance, devotion to traditional cultural and religious values, public and individual care for the total environment and honest governance on all levels. You may be blessed by monks but also by an affirmative conviction about the negative impact of Weatern-style consumerism and how Bhutan, from top to bottom, still succeeds to ward off such thgreatening impact in their virgin country. Bhutan sets an example for all people of the world--for a better world. We can learn very much from that positive example, maybe even to rescue a world that doesn't want to be rescued.
The challenges are tremendous but the determination to stay above
