The Utse Hotel is located in the popular tourist district of Thamel. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist our group of students. The facilities are secure and I can highly recommend it for student groups. The rooms were clean and well maintained. There was very little need to eat at other locations as their restaurant food was of a high standard.
I would highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor tend to hear the noise more, if possible choose one that is towards the back of the building.

We stayed our first week in Utse Hotel because it was recommended by a friend. The staff and the hotel owners are very friendly. The included breakfast is also very great! We recommend the Utse Set breakfast because of the tibetian bread!
The rooms are also very fine: The room and the attached bathroom are tidy and clean.
So if we come back to Kathmandu we will stay at Utse Hotel again!

After a previous stay at the Utse, we were welcomed back in the most hospitable manner.
There is a definite feeling that one is a valued guest, and this is echoed from the owners to all the other staff.
Quite a unique experience,in that often a guest just feels anonymous, another face forgotten straight away. The Utse has retained its atmosphere and we would be more than happy to stay there again.

We stayed in the hotel so that we stay very close to Thamel. Thamel is the tourist hub. So many shops around. So many beautiful things to buy. So many places to eat around. This hotel is very beautiful and well maintained.

We brought 13 students here on our first day with the plan of using other hotels in the city, but it provided us with everything we needed so used it throughout our 2 week trip. It has a great central location in Thames, the rooms are basic but good size and the bathrooms have hot running water. The restaurant is excellent although be prepared to wait, it gets busy (which is always a sign of popularity!). The menu has a good range of traditional food and some western dishes if you have fussy eaters! If you haven't tried them already...have the momos. The staff are friendly and have basic understanding of English.
