I stayed here for 6 weeks this time 'round and previously (in 2010) for 3 months. The staff quickly became like family and were very helpful with anything I needed. If you take the time to get to know them they're all really cool guys that are always up for a laugh :)
The rooms are cheap and clean and have all your basic needs, and I think by keeping it small and simple this place keeps a close friendly atmosphere. The garden is a beautiful place to chill out and everyone is very social, everyone gets to know each other quickly and you get a great mix of guests (many that have been before). As it's a little bit back from the Main Street it's always nice and quiet too, definitely not a party hostel but everything in main lakeside is within walking distance if that's your scene.
As I was there for awhile I also very much appreciated their home style cooking. Their breakfasts are cheap and delicious (the hash brown is great and they have nice thick peanut butter toast!) and honestly their puttanesca pasta was the best I've had in pokhara, I must've had it about 30 times now and I already miss it!
Can't wait to go back and spend more time in this amazing place. :)

This place makes you extremely welcome.I see that some people have complained about the bathrooms.I did not find them ditry at all, maybe asking the staff to look at the problem would have helped. As everybody says the garden is a good place to hang, people even come from other guest houses to chill for a while.Mattress's and pillows are good. They even have a tv lounge to watch a vdo and have a good libary also. The staff will help you in all things and it will be sad to leave tomorrow.

Room tip: Have a look.

This is a very nice hotel with a great atmosphere. I was planning to stay just a couple of days.. 17 days later I finally left ;)
Great place to recover from trekking or just because you want to relax for a bit.
Staff is very helpfull and friendly which made me feel like having a family here.
The garden is a peaceful place to hang around, have a drink or just catch up on the free wifi. Rooms are decent for a good price and they have a dorm as well.
Location is good. Not totally on the main street which is nice but surrounded by good restaurants with all kinds of food served. Everything is in walking distance.
Just go there and find out yourself!

Location is perfect with easy walk to everything you could need. Garden is also very nice for coffee or drink. Staff is helpful and atentive. But rooms and especially bathrooms are in desperate need of repairing and also cleaning. With few easy maintenance task this could be the best hotel in Pokhara.

Gauri Shankar is a small family business where they treat you like if you were one of them. The rooms are nice and affordable, some mattresses are better than others (have tried a few rooms) but they are going to change all of them soon. They don't have power all day, but all of Nepal is in the same situation! The most beautiful part is their garden, you feel like if you were out of the city. I've spent most of my time sitting on one of their comfy chairs enjoying nature.

Room tip: Room 11 is the best
