We went to Nakorn Ping hotel for few days. The price is good. One of the cheapest near Kaosan. The rooms are clean. 490 baths no ac no hot shower, the minimum but enough for us. A little bit more if you want it. You can leave your bag if you have to leave for 15 bath per day. Nice front staff, they do all they can to help you. Thank you. If we have to come back we know where to go.

This hotel may be faded and shabby but the quiet location is fantastic in Bangkok and the family rooms are spacious and spotlessly cleaned. Rooms have a fridge and are serviced every day and given clean towels. It is good value compared to other accommodation and the location can't be beaten, close to bus stop, 7/11 and Khao San Road. There is a brilliant place to eat 2 doors down called Nancy Home which has generous portions of freshly cooked Thai food at very cheap prices.
TV does have Fox Movies Premium. Compared to some awful places we have stayed in Bangkok, this always feels safe and the staff are helpful. We have stayed here 4 times in the last 4 months and spent 7 nights here over the Christmas period. We always sleep well and even when they didn't have a family room available, they made up a portable bed for our son in a double room.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs, third floor is good

this has been my go to spot in bangkok for around 15 years. i learned about it thru another se asia traveller, otherwise i never would have discovered it. i book ahead when possible.
in-room wifi, helpful staff, lots of travelers passing thru. I've arrived at all hours of the night and they are always welcoming. near by lots of sights and good restaurants.

Room Tip: some rooms get more sun than others, making it very hot. but ac is available in all rooms

I recently spent 4 nights here. Not sure why I didn't find another hotel, I was jet-lagged and too tired and lazy I guess. The internet did not work. The bed had hard uncomfortable pillows, there was a rubber sheet under the bed sheet which was buckled all the time, but I didn't want to see the mattress underneath. On top of basic price 490 baht was 100 baht for a/c, another 100 for hot shower. The location is good, close to good dining and cheap massage. The reception staff were nice, though most Thais usually are. Perhaps you get what you pay for, I think for another 200 baht you can get a much nicer room.

Room Tip: Avoid overlooking courtyard in front of hotel reception, can be noisy with other guests drinking beer late in the evening.

i change room 4 times when i was here first time. second time a change twice. some rooms are in garage with cars (avoid level 1). best are in level 3. you can use level 4 which is the roof and you should aboid if it is summer. some rooms with no windows in all levels. each room something does not work. sometimes is the shower, fan or air condition. the reason i stayed twice its because is cheap (490 bats). staff speaks basic english and most of them just a few words. you are doomed if you want to call a taxi to airport

they say it is remodelation. its been that way for 4 years...

now the good news, it is very central to most of nice temples and khao san road.
TV work in all rooms.
and good luck, you will need it! ;)
