Wanted to have a different experience from the newer part of Bangkok so we made a choice to stay at Nuovo City hotel which is smack centre in the old part of Bangkok. The hotel is close to Grand Palace (1.7km), Chao Phraya river (500m) and close to the Khao San Road (500m). It is surrounded by lots of eateries but isn't connected by Metro or BTS so be prepared to use the Tuk Tuks and Taxis. Rooms were spacious, modestly decorated but were very clean. Prices were very reasonable (bordering on cheap) but service standards were polite & professional. Overall the hotel was comfortable and we felt safe in the vicinity even in the late of night.

I stayed one night at the Nouvo City hotel at the end of an Intrepid tour. I was pleasantly surprised as it was one of the nicest hotels of the trip. It was spotless and the rooms were very spacious, modern and bright. The bathroom was large and the shower was brilliant, very powerful and really hot water. The safe was big enough for a lap top and all the bedding was crisp white. My highlight was requesting the topper for the bed. This is a nice little touch by the hotel. At the side of the bed they leave a note stating if you would like a topper to request one. After a month in Asia sleeping in the most uncomfortable beds I slept so well. I didn't opt for breakfast as to be honest in Bangkok you are spoilt for good food outside of the hotels. I read a few reviews which stated the staff were very helpful. To be honest I found the ladies on reception to be unfriendly and cold, however I had just come from Cambodia where people are very helpful and smiley. It is a really well located hotel with great amenities, I would recommend staying here.

I just stayed here for three nights with my cousin in a river view room.. We absolutely loved the two rooftop pools, the quiet side street the hotel was located on, the access (you can walk to Soi Rambuttri and Khao San Road) and the absolutely huge and delicious breakfast buffet. The staff and rooms are excellent. I'm looking forward to returning here soon for a relaxing stay in Bangkok.

I stayed with a friend for a few days at the Nouvo City Hotel.
It was very quiet during night although it is located only a few minutes from the lively khaosan road (takes you like 10 mins to walk there).
The staff was always very polite, helpful and courteous and the two pools on the 3rd and rooftop are very nice. The fitness room is also great as it has a nice variety of modern equipment.
You should know that this is a halal hotel an therefore no alcohol is served (which didn't bother us as there are a few bars just in front of the hotel).
The rooms were nice and big enogh and got cleaned every day.
As we arrived, the power was not working properly - but it got fixed right away within 15 minutes although they had to change a unit in the room (the one you put in your keycard in). Excellent!

The only (minor) negative thing was that there is no power plug right next to the bed. But there are enough all over the room.

Would stay there again.

First night we stayed at Ibis Styles and second and third night here. I have to say, i wanted to go back to Ibis styles, it was in the heart of Khaosan Rd. More bustling and the hotel was in better condition. This hotel was nice too, but depends on which building you were placed in. We were in the old one and it had a older pool, no smoking or drinking by it. The new building had a much nicer pool which an amazing view. Our room had a window and balcony but it was bolted shut. The showers and rooms were ok, dated, nothing like the pictures which are of the renovated building. Food was not included so i cannot talk about their restaurant there. I asked for a metered taxi and their concierge/bellboy got me a taxi that was not metered. We only used this in emergencies, most of the time we used GRAB. Check-in was seamless and quick. Fresh water and juice in the lobby. Gym was okay but nothing to rave about. Nice little café to the right when you walk out of the hotel. Great coconut curry soup. Do not change your money here as the rates are not as good as the exchange booths.
