I stayed at Okura, Bangkok once in Year 2023 with my son, and we both had wonderful time. So, this year we decided to return but as a family of three, with my husband, to celebrate a birthday and the new year. Since this would be a return visit, I couldn’t hold myself to not compare with my previous experience, land I admit I arrived with even higher expectations.
There is much to love about this hotel. No doubt … why the Okura is one of the finest hotels in Bangkok and has been recognized with coveted Michelin Keys.
The hotel is luxurious in lifestyle but humble in character. We stayed in the Prestige Suite... very spacious with an incredibly large tub, enough to fit the three of us if we so desired! The room and decor was somewhat dated, but immaculate. Ours was a corner suite with 2 sides of city views. The morning light was beautiful. The amenities were fully filled with good quality products from Harnn. The hotel vibe and interior are multi-cultural which is blended well - mindful and polite hospitality, detail-oriented and minimal, eco-friendly yet comfortable and private. We expected there would have many guests during our stay as it is the prime holiday break but we can still feel peace and have personal space in shared areas. Guests at the Okura seem to respect each others’ privacy and quiet time.
At Okura Bangkok, attention to detail is a key strength, and we can experience that across all areas from the first moment (airport pick up) until to the last day that we don’t want to leave. I feel like every staff treated us butler-like, as their special guest, ready to take care of us on every little detail. And not only us, but other guests as well… they seemed to recognize each guest, referring to us by name. Amazing, considering our case where we mentioned our room no. once for first time visiting in each area and after that, they warmly greeted us again thereafter at each meeting. Especially, Niek - General manager who seems to recognize all guests and is present throughout the hotel. It’s a pleasure to see him almost every day, exchanging pleasantries and shairing experiences. We were blown away by a ‘happy birthday’ surprise that arranged by the Okura team. It’s very thoughtful and made the day remarkable, thank you!
We tried new year eve tasting menu at Element - one Michelin star restaurant. Each dish is beautiful and tasty. The wine-pairing is not what we used to that will start from light to darker. This time, the wine paring is like symphony where white, red and sweet wine are not in sequence. I’m not saying that it’s bad but it’s an interesting experience. What I love the most about the Element is “experience to all”. There is not so many Michelin restaurants that allow, let alone encourage children to enjoy.. Element provided our son the opportunity to experience and enjoy fine-dining, and practicing proper etiquette too! He was also pleasantly surprised when the Chef Ciel Bleu greeted him by his name.
Spa is fantastic, we tried couple journey for 180 mins. First, we’re worried about our son as we’re not sure if they can accommodate having him stay with us while we’re enjoy spa. Greatly, the spa team can accommodate that!
We enjoyed the club lounge several times. Breakfast has reasonable selection. Sweet delight hour is pretty refreshing. Evening cocktail and snack is amazing .. just snack selection, it could be light dinner and the drink is just cheers!!
