Stayed here for work, hotel is very outdated especially in the rooms, hallway carpet had a lot of stains. I booked a king room but was given a room with two single beds pushed together to make a king but made up separately - very strange! No windows in the room open up if you have a room with no balcony! The location is not very central but only a quick courtesy ferry across the river to get to the main city area - staff were a little rude - would not stay here again the Mandarin Oriental across the river looks a lot nicer!

Dear Kylie A

Very sorry that your stay did not live up to our standards, we certainly aim much higher than what you experienced, and given the overwhelming number of reviews noting as such, seems that all did not go as planned with your stay.

We would certainly appreciate having the opportunity to discuss this with you further if you would care to contact us directly, and of course to have you stay with us again so we can show you that we can get it right.

We look forward to hearing from you.

With best regards,
Shane Jolly

This is a beautiful property -- views of the river are sublime and the rooms are spacious. The service is terrific. I was given a late checkout, which I very much appreciated. As my earlier review of the Peninsula Beijing attests, I am a fan of the brand.
But I was ill after having a tasting menu at one of the hotel's restaurants, which is not what I would expect of a 5-star.
The management sent me a nice note after. I responded that I'd spent a week in Thailand, eating street food and in rural areas, and this was the only time I got sick after eating. They wrote back with the number of people who had the set menu and who dined at the restaurant that night, saying no one else had complained. That is, of course, how you argue with a customer, not how you speak with a guest.
Disappointing.

This was clearly a splurge that we could only afford in Bangkok. Absolutely gorgeous living room and bedroom, both overlooking the river. Separate desk and closet/luggage areas. Huge bathroom with his and her sink areas on opposite sides of the room with both bathtub and separate shower. Roomy were perfectly appointed.

Massive and tasty breakfast buffet. Excellent room service and concierge.

If you can splurge once in your life, this is the place to do it.

Having been to Bangkok a few times and usually staying at the Shangri-La, I wanted to try somewhere new this time. From the first contact with the hotel, the service was excellent, with quick and helpful responses.

Once we arrived at the hotel, the service continued to be of the very highest standard... our bags were whisked away and we were ushered through the beautiful foyer to check-in, with every member of staff that we met being very friendly and welcoming.

We stayed in Grand Deluxe Suite (30th floor) and can honestly say that I have never stayed in such an impressive room, with panoramic views (including an excellent one from the loo) and very comfortable, high quality furnishings. The attention to detail is exceptional and, even though I didn't utilise it, the little door for shoe cleaning is a great touch.

The breakfast buffet is superb and the dinner buffet was a great treat, with excellent dishes from around the world.

Many thanks to Shane and the team at the Peninsula... now to save up for the Peninsula world air-cruise :0)
