We stayed here on the first leg of a 4 stop holiday of Thailand, and after a long flight from London you hope it's worth it when you get there, and it did not disappoint.

On arrival we were shown to our room, which was beautiful, great view of the water features that are a signature of this hotel, square shaped pools, very quiet which was lovely. The room had a lovely big bed, a big tv which you can plug your ipod/iphone or even laptop in and watch whatever you want on (this also worked for music) this was if you ever get bored of the many, many channels they have anyway. The bathroom alone was worth 5 stars in my opinion, if you go here and use the toilet in the room you will know what I mean, great fun for a gadget nut like myself.

Breakfast was lovely, they even offered to have it delivered to our room, but we wanted to be able to pick and choose what we had and how much, plus we love those square pools you look out to when eating breakfast, having a few coffees and catching up with a newspaper. There was plenty of choice, the juices were fresh and they had a different selection every day we were there, some juices i didnt think were even possible!

The pools were also good, with an italian restaurant next door if you wanted a drink to relax with next to the main pool. The only restaurant we did try was the thai place on the right as you enter the hotel, a lovely building again, separate from everything else in the complex. We were welcomed with a young lady in Thai dress playing a wooden xylophone, before promptly being given the option of sitting inside or outside. We chose outside as again we could gaze out over the water that surrounds this restaurant. The menu looked great anyway, but we were given an ipad with pictures of all the food on the menu, which was fantastic as its better to see what you fancy sometimes, and it's much easier than sneaking a look at what people around you are eating. The food was perfect, we had a fair amount and we were very happy with everything, they came round with rice if you wanted it too, and the waiter was very friendly, football fan, the premier league in particular so had plenty to talk about!

Overall this hotel was the best hotel we had in Thailand, and probably one of the best we have ever had, we were only there for 3 days, and we didnt try everything the hotel had to offer, but everyone was friendly, everything was clean and as I mentioned before it is a beautiful hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again given a choice.

Room Tip: We had a room over the other side of the pools from reception, i dont think there was anyone above us but it was very quiet the entire time.

Sukho Thai has an inconspicuous facade, however the rooms are remarkable! Though the elavators and corridors are not very impressive, the rooms make up for all. The bathroom with its modern amenities would be a special mention. Also chocolates kept at the side table and a well stacked stationery drawer were beyond my expectations. The hotel staff took extra care to make the bed comfortable for me as it was too soft for my back. Breakfast buffet spread was good and the room service was remarkable. The room and the bathroom flaunt exquisite modern lighting , a coffee machine and a box of assorted chargers and adaptors. It is located in the heart of the city and there are great Thai restaurants a few minutes walk away.

I looked forward to staying this hotel for long time. But unfortunately it was deceived.
I stayed at Deluxe Suite for 8 days.
When I ordered room service menu, the salad which contained avocado, I realized there is no avocado. So I called them to confirm. After that, they delivered only "avocado" on the dish. In addition, their menu mentioned about tea only as "mariagefreres". But somehow it was served as totally different brand's one without any notice to us. I asked the reason of it as well. After that they served us the "correct" one... Really strange service. I called reception and she decided that it would not be charged. But I was really surprised that we had such service from this hotel.

For room cleaning service, they removed our key from our room without any notice. We spent time to try to find it. In addition, they didn't change the light at bathroom which didn't work for 2 days. I had to ask them directly to change it.

I asked them to book Thai traditional dance performance before we stayed at the hotel. And at that time, I asked them if it is easier to get the place for it. As there is no BTS/ MRT near the theater, they advised them to use Taxi from the hotel. So I asked them to arrange taxi for that on the day when we actually go there. They advised that it would take 30-40 mins from the hotel. So we went to lobby before 1.5 hours for the show. But we waited for 20 mins. And finally they informed us that they can get only taxi which required us THB300 for the place. As we didn't have much time to negotiate, we used that one.... When I claimed about it to them. their excuse was: "We got taxi at 6pm and waited for you for a few mins. But you didn't come to the lobby" So, I asked them " did you call me?" their answer was "no". I gave up to understand their attitude.
For the seat, I asked them to get ones which is the best. They booked for us in the front row. But this theater had subtitle at the top on the stage, it was really hard to see it. I recommend that you ask them with all the details after you searched the details so well.

For taxi, we sometimes cannot find anyone at the entrance. Seems that it's short-staffed...

Overall, I think this hotel is for business. Not vacation. They will not give us service proactively.
Actually the space is very nice but other things are not worth to pay such a cost.

Room Tip: It is better to inform the hotel your request with all the details.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking your valuable time to post your comments on Trip Advisor regarding your recent visit to The Sukhothai Bangkok.

As a well travelled guest, your feedback is very useful and important as we carefully analyze all guest comments, to ensure best overall guest experience. We regret to learn that you found the shortfall in the service from our Room Service in the inaccuracy of order delivery and the attentiveness in Housekeeping service in regards to black out of bathroom lighting and taking out your room key from the energy saving unit in the room.

In regards to the Concierge Service, our team had strictly followed your email request for the front row to see the Thai traditional dance without awaring that you would also focus on viewing the subtitle. Public taxi service is currently beyond our control in terms of the availability particularly the peak hours. On that day, our team had called a few taxis and drivers had refused, until one taxi came and asked for fixed fare of THB 300.We have instructed our team not to encourage the fixed fare taxi, instead they should have offered you a hotel limousine, even the price is higher.

We would like to assure you that your comments have been taken very seriously and brought to the attention of the concerned members to continuously improve our level of services and attentiveness, your detailed comments are greatly appreciated.

At The Sukhothai Bangkok, we pride of ourselves to cater to both leisure and business guests for the past 20 years both in terms of services and facilities. We will certainly look into improving towards personalizing guest's individual needs.

We would like to thank you for having stayed with us and look forward to the opportunity of again welcoming you back to The Sukhothai Bangkok in the near future.

Best regards,

This hotel is beautiful! From the rooms, to the spa, to the hotel building no expense has really been spared.

We stayed in a superior deluxe room for 4 nights which had all the necessary mod cons a young couple require. The room itself was beautiful and the bathroom was huge! We had a wonderful view of the hotel gardens and enjoyed the fact we were in the main hotel building.

We ate at Celadon on our first night and the food and service were fantastic. We particularly liked the fact we were given an iPad to accompany our menu to see pictures of the various dishes which were on offer - something we've not experienced before! Breakfasts were equally fantastic - possibly the best we have had! The pool side restaurant also has great food for when you are lounging around the pool etc.

The swimming pool area is also beautiful and fits into the whole serenity of the hotel. We also tried the spa numerous times and I had some of the best massages I've ever experienced. The service here is fantastic and I cannot recommend it enough!

The staff here are also attentive and not intrustive and concierge were a great help in making restaurant reservations etc for us.

For first time visitors to Bangkok, The Sukhothai has left a great impression and it is definitely a hotel we would return to and recommend!
