“Nice experience in Siam City Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

The location is good, nearby skytrain. It is easy to go everywhere and come back to take a rest. Hotel staffs are friendly and courteous. I really love its Thai restaurant, Spice & Rice Thai-Halal, which offers delicious food and nice service. Room is clean and comfortable. The only thing makes me feel inconvenient is hotel is under renovation, including public area such as lobby. However, I believe that after renovation, this hotel would be perfect for both business or leisure customers to stay here.

Overall, a good stay! The hotel rooms had all recently undergone renovation, and so the rooms all provided a fresh reflection of Thai culture. Each day, the hotel staff would place traditional Thai desserts or trinkets in the room as complimentary gifts . . . which added a nice touch to the overall experience. The service was generally good, although the front desk check-in process was slightly chaotic, and could have been handled more professionally. That said, I would still recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to experience a touch of the local Thai hospitality during his/her trip to Thailand!

Room Tip: Pick a side with windows facing west - it will make the room a lot brighter and nicer in the afterno...

I had a wonderful experience at the Siam city hotel. The staff was very courteous, and the food at the all-day dining restaurant “Patummat” was delectable. As part of a small group which stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, I had the opportunity to visit other guest areas too. One needs to bear in mind that there are some inherent inconveniences that guests may face due to some guest areas including the lounge and the reception undergoing renovations. Amidst this however one cannot miss the beautiful layout and design of the Chinese restaurant “Lin Fa”. The Thai restaurant “Spice & Rice Thai-Halal” with nicely appointed interiors offers great food. The space between the 2 wings of the hotel has been converted into a relaxed outside sit out area that extends into a warm welcoming patio, leading the entrance to the Bakery offering delicious pastries and cakes and to the Thai restaurant. One can have drinks and munches at the patio thanks to an outdoor bar. The shopping district is located at a walking distance, and the Sky train station is just a 5 minute walk which makes it very convenient.

Dear ask264,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to review our property, we really appreciate it.

We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed our award-winning Chinese restaurant Lin-Fa and it’s equally delightful Thai counterpart in the garden, Spice & Rice. Not to mention our ‘easy and breezy’ Primavera Walkway and Bakery Cafe. We pride ourselves on providing a top-notch range of quality dining and drinking outlets and it pleases us to hear that you’ve enjoy experiencing them.

I am happy to tell you that all our renovations inside the hotel are now complete and our wonderful new Reception, antique gallery and Sapphire Bar and now open and delighting guests.

We hope to have you back with us again soon. Only pleae note that since your last visit we have changed our name, we are now the one and only THE SUKOSOL!

My husband was attending a conference at the hotel and I was his spouse playing the tourist. However, we had to pay $80 US/night to upgrade to the Premier Family room type in the Ayuthaya Wing. Originally, we had requested for two double beds and we were told we had to have a deluxe room with a King bed. As a third party had had made our booking, I cannot be sure where the communication mix up occurred. After agreeing to pay for the upgrade, we were placed away from the elevators and on the top floor (10th) as requested. After our four night stay I was glad to escape the traffic noise and the loud fan of the air conditioner. The room was too hot upon our arrival (at 10.00pm) as the air conditioner wasn't working. It took about an hour to fix, with visits from two different departments and we had men climbing in our ceiling to get it working as we unpacked. As it turned out, the thermostat on the wall was never working at all and it showed 27 degrees in our room the whole time we were there, even though we were having to sleep under duvets at night!
The bathroom was renovated, except that on the ceiling were signs of roof leakage over the shower and the shower was terrible! It went hot and cold suddenly and it would also stop abruptly mid shower. It was a constant fiddle with the taps. The pool was great to swim in, not too busy either, except the area was in the shadow of the building a lot of the time. There was food and bar service and always enough sun lounges. It was a five minute walk (I had to cross the road using a stairway) to the BTR Phaya Thai stop, and this was convenient to go to the National Stadium stop (visit Jim Thompson's house and shop at Siam) and the Chatuchak Park (Chatuchak Market). There was a seven eleven shop almost next to the hotel and that was very convenient. The buffet breakfast was included in our room rate, and even though the lobby was undergoing renovations, the dining for breakfast was still enjoyable.

Room Tip: If traffic noise is an issue, choose the rooms over looking the pool and not the Ayathaya wing. If y...

the reservation area is horrible. when i check in, i dont get my order, double bed becoming twin bed at 1st nite, no guarantee for changing the condition in 2nd nite. then need to get the king size bed when 5pm at the 2nd day (i wait at reception), and when i want to check out , i wait for 30 minutes for the room boy and still didnt come to my room. at last, i take the bags for my own.
never come again for this FIVE STAr Hotel.

Room Tip: no comment, hopeless for this hotel
