There is a story behind how the place came to be. I was already very impressed by the beauty of the place and the fun boat ride around the market, but hearing the mission of the person who begun the market made it more cool. I think the place is worth the money and time. Cute place, fun, local experience.

The market is not so big but enough to find every food you are looking for and other craft presents. It seems almost clean and tidy compared to others or Chinatown market. The trip on the boat is an experience (water is dirty crowded of fishes): it worthwhile it.

I do love, kids dont as they are crowded, smelly, pretty dirty etc. But the food here is real Thai, fruits much cheaper then elsewhere in Bangkok and canals (dirty) are also somehow nice. So would definitely recommend.

Dated back to the time when most poeple lived by the river or along the canals. Waterways were served as the main method of transportation in Bangkok. Settlement which sprawled along the river banks and winding canals outside the city wall, formed several ethenic and diverse communities.
Best place to visit.
