Our guide had told us that the Patpong market has slipped in recent years and there wasn't as much action as there used to be. We found it still quite crowded on a Thursday night. Not sure why. The souvenir stands that fill the street sell the same ol stuff you can find nearly anywhere else in the city, only at inflated tourist prices that hopefully you can bargain down to. I didn't even try. The bars that line the storefronts have open doors and you can peek in to see the girls on stage. Of course the greeters will entice you to try and come in. And then there are the guys who will try and get you to see a Ping Pong show. I had heard the horror stories about them so smartly stayed away.
