I love parks and living so close to Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, I'd say it's a little tough to find something so dramatically beautiful, even if man-made, elsewhere in Asia. Having said that, I must admit I wasn't completely taken with Lumpini Park. Although I think it does a good job of providing a lovely patch of greenery to residents and visitors in Bangkok, for when pollution and crowd fatigue syndrome gets a little too overwhelming. The park itself is quite big and nice enough for a stroll, jog, or leisure cycling. We particularly like the lake in the middle of the park and you can rent a small boat/duck boat for 40 Bht for a 30-minute spin around the lake. It's very relaxing to just be floating away in the water, especially on a hot day/afternoon. Look out for the big lizards lazing on the banks or swimming across the water. I was a bit scared because some of them look like baby crocodiles! There are drinks/snack stalls just outside the park so make sure you buy a bottle of water - or two - if you intend to stay in the park for more than an hour. The park can get pretty crowded in the late afternoon towards early evening so picking out a spot to just sit and ruminate might be challenging. In this case, you're better off taking a stroll or a slow jog - both good exercises for the heart.

We were really happy to find out about this park just 5-10 minutes walk from where we were staying. There is something for everyone with lots of pathways over a very large distance if you are there for exercise, also many exercise machines. Couple of kids playgrounds, the swan paddle boat things & the occasional small shop where you can get a drink or icy pole. In the lake there are gigantic fish and around the edge you find big monitor lizards doing a spot of fishing so it is nice from a wildlife perspective. And it's great for a spot of people watching, the outdoor gym in the middle was an interesting spot! Nice for a family activity.

Not as exceptional as thought. The park was quite and peaceful, but there are some people who wanted to show us a big reptile and immediately afterwards one of them took my hand and wanted to give me a massage, but when I said no he was immediately frustrated and took off.

We like Lumphini Park in Bangkok because it is very green and not very crowded (can only judge weekdays). There is lots of shadow due to many trees, and it is perfect for your own picnic because there are so many stone tables and benches under trees where you can sit down and eat or drink (attention: no alcohol allowed in the park!). See pictures for an impression.

There are also two quite nice playgrounds.

Otherwise, the park is not spectacular. For example, no flowers or something that would amaze one...

Good park, but for my sorrow no dogs allowed inside, so we had to leave this place fast. However the park is very green and the people do jogging.
