We spent a few days at Ping Nakara on our multi-stop honeymoon in Thailand and absolutely loved it. The hotel has a charming boutique feel and the service was impeccable. We stayed in a Royal Grand Deluxe Room which was beautiful and the bed was enormous!
The hotel location is perfect because it’s outside the busy old town and a short stroll from the night bazaar. We went there most nights to soak up the ambiance and because there are heaps of places to eat, all of which are ridiculously cheap! Ping Pong was our absolute favourite but The Whole Earth is also well worth a visit.
If you are doing any tours the operators will pick up/drop off at the hotel so you don’t need to stay in the centre of Chiang Mai. We would thoroughly recommend the Patara Elephant Farm and Chiang Mai Mountain Biking – both of which we booked independently, no need to go through the tour operator who has a desk within the hotel lobby. If you have time the Sunday Walking Street is also well worth a visit, the sheer number of stalls is crazy and there is some amazing street food.
Other people have commented on the number of sun loungers (6) which, quite rightly, is not enough when the hotel is at full capacity. Personally, we did not come to Chiang Mai to sunbathe so didn’t find it a problem. Some rooms have balconies so make sure you request this if you want to guarantee some al fresco action.
Finally, the spa is well worth a mention as it is out of this world! Not the cheapest you will find in Thailand by any means but you really do get what you pay for in this instance.
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a charming, relaxing stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in March 2011. It's a beautiful building, with lots of character. The bed is comfortable, the linen is nice, etc. It looks just as it does in the photos. The staff are friendly. We tried to book a standard room, but our bedding preference was not available, so we upgraded to a grande deluxe at approximately $160 AUD per night.

The disappointment comes from the fact that there are renovations going on at the hotel, which we weren't aware of until we got to our room and saw a note on the desk. We weren't too concerned, as we assumed renovations would be outside and not very noticeable. Unfortunately the renovations were occurring in room 207, two doors down, and involved drilling, sawing, hammering etc - very noisy. They began at around 10.30am/11am and finished at around 4pm each day. Sitting in the room or on the balcony was impossible due to the noise. It was even very noisy when sitting by the pool.

I wish we'd been told about this when we booked. Perhaps a discount could have been offered to make up for the inconvenience.

The hotel is also on a busy road, which can be a tiny bit noisy.

The pool was lovely, but was really cold - all the guests that we spoke to said the same thing, the cold water takes your breath away! There are also only 6 deck chairs, which isn't really enough for 19 rooms.

All-in-all, it's nice, small and has character, but I wouldn't say it's 5 star standard, and the renovations put a strain on our stay.

Thank you for your comments on TripAdvisor. We appreciate that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel, even though it was not as much as you had hoped to.

Just prior to your arrival, there was a very unusual weather system that brought cold to the upper north of Thailand, which is why the pool was quite cold. Our normal temperatures are so warm that heating the pool is not a necessity, and it was unfortunate that you encountered this rare phenomenon. Thanks too, for the comment about the shortage of pool chairs. We are in the process of adding more and should solve this concern soon.

As the hotel is open literally 24/7, we have to plan carefully what repairs we undertake so they have minimal impact on our guest's stay with us. We tried to do this during the one day of construction and another day for the touch-up. We are so sorry that it did affect your stay, for which we apologize. Thank you for your recommendation, we are planing to put a statement on our web site when we will be having renovation in the future.

Thank you again for rating us 4 out of 5 stars in most categories. We are working hard all the time to be 5 star quality, and your comments will assist us in this work. We really do hope that you will come and try us again.

Kind regards,
Chairat

My wife and I stayed at the Ping Nakara for five nights in February as part of a holiday in Thailand.
Our welcome at the hotel was extremely friendly and efficient, a sure sign of good things to come. We were not disappointed. Without exeption, the Staff we met during our stay were so helpful in sorting out any request we had, giving information on a variety of subjects.
The standard of food in the hotel was high, with a good variety available. The breakfast buffet was especially good as breakfast buffets sometimes go.
The tour company in the hotel is first class in arranging and accompanying guests on outings, (Mr Noom, and Miss Som, thank you for all your help), and we would suggest the tours sold by this company, (Lanna Boutique Travel) would be as good value for money as any around.
A lovely gesture from the hotel on our departure for a flight to Bangkok early in the morning was to be given a pack of sandwiches and bottles of water for the trip.
Another example of the hotel efficiency came when my wife discovered she had left a special skirt behind in the hotel. One phone call from Hua Hin, (Our next stop after Chiang Mai) and the skirt was sent to us by special delivery at no cost. That is the Ping Nakara Boutique Hotel and Spa's efficiency and kindness at its best.

My friend and I recently stayed 8 nights at the Ping Nakara Boutique & Spa Hotel, we booked this hotel based on the excellent reviews that I had read about this hotel. We were not disappointed the hotel lived up to it's reputation, all our expectations were meet, everything was as described in the excellent reviews. They have a wonderful staff everyone of them made you feel welcome and provided exceptional service.Thank you for a wonderful stay we are looking forward to returning again soon.

I would also like to thank the tour desk for the great service they provided, we booked several full day tours with them. Our tour guide Som and driver Joe provided us with excellent tours that were informative and made sure we got the most out of each day, they were obliging and great fun to be with. Thank you Som and Joe for your effort and expertise and wonderful time we had with you, Neva and Fay.
As we stayed 8 days there were times when Som and Joe were busy with other guests and we needed a guide/driver, on these occasions Aey looked after us providing excellent service and making sure all of our needs were met, thank you Aey.
