We stayed for 3 nights in early December 2012. The owner, Orn, was very hospitable and sweet. Our room was clean and comfortable and very charming. I will definitely recommend this Baan to everyone traveling to Chiang Mai and I will 100% stay here again on my next return trip.

We had a wonderful experience at Baan Boo Loo. Orn and the rest of the staff are so hospitable and warm. Whenever we came back to the guesthouse after a day of sightseeing or wandering the town, we were greeted with smiles and asked about our day. It felt like coming home! We really enjoyed the breakfasts each morning... they gave us some Thai breakfast food (sticky rice and custard) along with eggs and toast. Orn also made us a delicious dinner that was served at the table just outside our room. We stayed in the Bao Sao Executive Suite, which is their honeymoon suite, and it was such a fun and unique experience to stay in a Thai style room with an outdoor shower and bath! (The only downside to the outdoor shower as the mosquitos.)

The grounds at Baan Boo Loo are beautiful! You kind of feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and it is very easy to relax here... but when you are ready to go out and explore, you are right in the center of town! It is across the street from a huge temple, and a five minute walk to the night markets and the main strip of restaurants and bars. You honestly can't beat the location!

Orn arranged ALL of our activities for us and did a wonderful job! I basically made a list of everything we wanted to do while in Chiang Mai and she made it happen. We had a driver for two of the days that drove us around to all the places we wanted to see and we loved the flexibility of being able to stay as long or as short as we wanted at each place. It was a great way to see Chiang Mai! Orn even arranged our massages at a nearby spa and had the driver drop us off and pick us up. Wonderful! And one of the evenings, Orn and Adisak surpised us with our own wish lantern to release since we were on our honeymoon and it is a tradition in Chiang Mai for newly wedded couples. That was a really fun and special experience.

We seriously loved it there and would 100% stay there again if we find ourselves back in Chiang Mai someday. It is really difficult to describe the feeling you get while staying at the guesthouse... you really have to experience it for yourself!

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon because we wanted more of a traditional experience. It was the best choice we made on our whole trip! Orn and her staff were phenomenal at making us feel welcome. She was aware it was our honeymoon so she made it a point to leave roses in our room for us every night. We were in Chiang Mai for the Yi-Peng/Loi Krathong festival and she bought all the guests in the house lanterns so each of us could send them off. Unfortunately, we only had booked 3 nights since the rooms were full for the remainder of our trip. Orn, still invited us back to teach us how to make our own krathongs and eat some home cooked meals even though we were no longer her guests! Of course we took her up on that offer! There are no words to describe how loving and and warm this place is!

Immersed in the middle of a beautiful garden, perfectly located in the heart of Chiang Mai, Baan BooLOo is a place I've been looking for.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The place itself is very quiet and peaceful which has been a wonderful change after big hotels with 100+ rooms and staff's fake smiles.
It gives one pretty homey and family atmosphere, but to make it perfect the things to be improved are: 1) Breakfast. Very, very poor. Each morning I got: 4 slices of pineapple or papaya and 4 slices of banana; eggs (scrambled or omelette); one (01) piece of toasted bread; sticky rice (a spoonful of) in a palm leaf and a cup of coffee. Today I asked for something different as have been staying here for 6 days already - and got a yoghurt and a vegetable soup.
2) Towels. There is only one towel per person provided in the room. I asked for the 2nd one, already the first day. They forgot. So I kindly reminded them. The next day there were two towels. The day after there has been one again. I mean, how difficult is to remember such basic things with only 08 rooms around ?
Nevertheless, I do recommend this guest house as rarely as original place and sincerely hope that the staff will work on improving service.

Dear Guest

We did not get chance to meet however, many, many thanks for staying at and recommending BaanBooLOo. We truly value your comments.

We apologise for the points you mention and confirm various improvements are now in place. In fairness to our staff, we understand they rushed to serve breakfast for you daily before the normal kitchen opening hours so hopefully it was just beyond their control on this occasion. That said we think you will approve of the many tweaks to our service recently and look forward to welcoming in the future.

Kind regards
Louis

We stayed at Baan Boo Loo twice on our visit to Thailand. The first time we stayed in the Baan Khao room, which is on an elevated platform and open air. It was like a very nice adult tree house. In the hotest season it might be a little warm for some people since there is no air conditioning. The second time we stayed in the Po Liang room, a very stylish room with air conditioning. Both rooms were very nice and creatively designed.

The breakfasts are a nice mix of western and Thai, and always include fresh fruit.

The location is hard for taxi drivers to find, as it is down a narrow alley behind a temple. But if you can tell them in advance when you are arriving and you are staying for more than a couple of days they will pick you up at the airport or bus station.

Baan Boo Loo is not an inexpensive place, but it is quiet and peaceful and like a bit of country in the city, and has rooms that are unique and well designed.
