“Under Renovation - don't expect to much”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 February 2012

While we knew it was under renovation we can live with that, we upgraded to a orchid deluxe room and the room itself was ok, this is the third time we have stayed here, but the last time was several years ago, it is a great location, the room was large with good A/C but that is were the positives end. The shower was filthy with mould all over the lower tiles and the drain covered in ? The pool was closed, the reception hasn't improved service since our last visit, very unaccommodating, we organised a late check out at 1pm, only to have them ring us at 12:10 to ask if we wanted to stay another night as check out is at 12pm - no processes or internal communication. It is under new managment and is now run by Movenpick, so hopefully the staff with undergo some much needed training and maybe even learn how to smile. The new entrance for the hotel is down a side street, but not even the taxi drivers know where the new entrance is. With the Le Meriden across the road and another hotel Centara? next door they better get their act together, we explored the option of checking into another hotel, but couldnt be bothered in the end, the price we paid being in Asia should have been so much better, try an alternative until they complete renovations and relauched as things can only get better. Breakfast: Omlette station & freah fruit was great, their only saving grace, everything else was tasteless, cold and bland.

Room Tip: The orchid deluxe room was good, but would hate to stay in anything less

Just stayed there and the only good thing about it is the location. Room was ver y shabby, poor breakfast, the food which was supposed to be hot was as cold as the cold food. First room we had was right next to the hotel giant aircon unit, it was like having a bus in the room and staff was very unhelpful with shifting us to another room. Laundry charges extremely high. Never again, much better places available much cheaper and at least clean....

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.....

Suriwongse is about to become the movenpick i believe - signs everywhere and was being under construction inside - certain sections sealed off - nothing to worry about as it just meant a slightly longer walk inside to check in. The hotel has a brilliant location right slap bang in the middle of the night bazaar. Electronic door locks and full size laptop safe included. Strong smell of damp in the room and not the cleanest room ive seen. A very hard bed. Overall - average -topped with a lovely view of a rival building. :)

Room Tip: Request new refurbished wings. This may have been an older wing.

This hotel looked wonderful when viewed on the internet but I was really disappointed by the room I was given
I paid a reasonable price but I think it was only worth half of what I paid. The bed was rock hard and overall the room was rather shabby especially the bathroom. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. This is definately not one of the better 4 star hotels. A word of advice if travelling to Chiang Mai over the Christmas or New year period book your hotel well in advance because it is almost impossible to get a hotel room by walking in off the street.

Room Tip: Maybe wait until fully renovated but even then I don't think it will be a great place to stay
