Elephants are a majestic and wonderful animal and our guide was so passionate about imparting his knowledge about the beautiful creature.

The sanctuary is a place with several different camps on it with a mixture of African and Asian elephants that have been rescued.

On our visit we had baby elephants Lady Gaga and Rihanna to play with and feed. One baby elephant was very cheeky and explorative and decided to route around my bottom with its trunk while my friend was taking a photo which made some hilarious photos!

With the full day trip costing around £50, they pick you up from your hotel, and you get to feed the elephants, they provide a traditional thai lunch, make medicine for elephants, play in the mud and then walk to the waterfall to wash it all off and have a fun waterfight with the elephants before they drive you back through the jungle to your hotel.

Everything about this day was top class.
Chiangmai Elephant Sanctuary really took into account the fact that this is somewhat a once in a life time experience for all, Revolving the day around being side to side with the animals, keeping our best interests at heart.
The love and care for the animals is evident at the sanctuary, the elephants roam freely within the grounds, and are never chained nor enclosed.
Group sizes are small ( our group was a mere 5 people ) which provided a real 1 on 1 experience with your elephant.
Not mentioned on the brochures or online is a trek to a beautiful waterfall after washing the elephants, this is included in all packages i think.
The price was a bargain at 2000 baht,( 50 euro) which included a trek to a local hill tribe, and also bamboo rafting on a shallow slow river, both were well worth the extra fee and a added bonus to a truly memorable day.
Forget all the countless other brochures being thrown at you, this sanctuary is the clear winner.
Thank you to Tommy and the guys, keep up the good work!

I went here last week for a half day (morning) visit. Tony was our guide and he was absolutely excellent - he informed us about the elephants lives, history, habits, etc and made the day exciting for us. We fed the elephants, walked with them, took a mud bath with them and played with and washed them in their pool.

What attracted me most to this elephant sanctuary was that you couldn't ride the elephants. The elephants were so happy here and are being taken really good care of so don't worry - they are living a happy life!

Definitely go here it ain't disappoint!

We where in Chiang Mai for 3 days wanted to see elephants while in our trip in Thailand. This tour was the most ethical trip. Elephants are treated with love and respect. Lucy made our day so much better. Thank you for a fantastic memory!
