I have lived a long life and have visited many Italian restaurants all over the world during my time. I love Italian food and Italian wines. I can safely say without any fear of exaggeration that I have never experienced and enjoyed an Italian restaurant like Mimosa in Jomtien, Pattaya. Mimosa is not just a wonderful Italian restaurant, it is an institution, it is a place of enormous enjoyment, an experience - and fun, thanks to the female part of the proprietor couple, Khun Yah/MoMo. Together with her husband Luca, they have created this very unique place. The food is excellent, even better now, if possible, since they recently closed for a while to renovate the kitchen. Prices are reasonable and the menu cannot be faulted, even with fish and chips being offered! My experience is that you won't find a better pizza, pasta, soup, salad or classic Italian starter delicacies like carpaccio, parma ham and melon, bruschetta and vitello tonnato anywhere than those at Mimosa. Should anyone prefer Thai food, this is also on the menu and, in that Khun Yah/MoMo is Thai, I am told that her Thai food is also delicious. So something for everybody! The couple, Khun Yah/MoMo and Luca, combine the best of both worlds! Both House Wine at 600 Baht a litre (approximately USD 18) and some good bottled wines in a price range of 1 000 - 2 000 Baht (approximately USD 30 - 60) are available. Beer is of course also available. Price range 90 - 180 Baht (approximately USD 3 - 6). A nice cup of coffee to round off the meal is, unfortunately, something sadly lacking at many restaurants but the coffee at Mimosa is also delicious, a perfect end to the meal, with double espresso being my favourite. The settings and the atmosphere are inevitably nicely Italian and relaxed. Possibly, the screaming orange colour which sets you aback on entering the restaurant could be changed... A special mention must be given to the young lady and young man providing excellent service at the table. Even when the restaurant is full to the hilt, which it often can be, you still won't have to wait too long for your food. My favourites: Tomato Soup, Bruschetta, Napoletana Pizza and Rigatoni Puttanesca Pasta. All I'm waiting for now is for the possibility of paying by credit card.
