Le Prive Pattaya
Ranked #105 of 463 Hotels in Pattaya
Reviewed 3 June 2011

At the last minute I booked a flight from the UK to Bangkok, not sure where I'd head after that. I'd read all the reports on hotels for Pattaya and had a short list of three.
Arriving in Bangkok I was met at the arrivals gate by the driver from Mr T's taxi service, very courteous, nice car, very clean, and so off we went. Once on the motorway he asked me where I was staying, so I called Le Prive and asked if there were vacancies, told yes, so passed the phone to the driver and that was that done.

Arrived around 2.30 pm, bags were taken from the car, I paid the driver and entered Le Prive.
As you approach the address you do a 'U' turn on the dual carriageway and then turn down a side street next to "Mr Mac's Hotel", no signage or directions indicating the way, so was very surprised when I walked thru the gate into the resort.
The layout is perfect, tree's shrubs, fountains, birds singing.
Inside is invisable from the gate, so privacy is ensured, and the rooms are spotless, sheets/towels changed every day, rooms have satellite TV, air con, bathrooms are immacualte, and the beds - I slept a full 12 hours the first night!
The rooms and furniture are as the brouchre and the web page show, classic Northern Thai, carvings, statues, etc. lovely rooms.

I opted for the continental breakfast, fresh fruit (a selection of Mango, Pappaya, Grapefruit, Melon, etc), yogurt, toast, butter, croissant, preserves, coffee (real) and fresh fruit juice.
Additional (Blue) towels are privided for the pool area so no need to use the ones from the room. Once you settle in by the pool a glass of iced water appears on the table for you. Service for drinks and food was excellent - then agaion there was one bonus, as its low-low season, over the fourteen nights I stayed there I was the only guest for ten!
On arrival you are given a key to your room and the main gate, so you come and go as you please, just lock the gate after you, never a problem.

There are motorcycle taxis at the corner of the street so you can get anywhere for 30 baht, or flag a pssing Baht bus for 10 baht, no problems there either.
There are plenty of places to hire a scooter, 150 Baht a day seems the going rate.
I had my hair cut and a massage the second day, just over the road from Mr Mac's - great haircut and I went back several times for a back/neck massage.
I put laundry in every day and it was returned the next day.
Overall I cannot report any problem or fault with le Prive, Jean Louis and his staff were friendly, approachable and charming, the resort really was a slice of heaven for me, I spent 14 days by the pool or on Jomtien beach (go past soi 14 for the best area on the beach, and don't bother with Pattaya beach!).
Try the mini-golf over the road for a laugh!

I only took the standard room which was excellent, but I'll take th larger rooms next time.

This little hotel is a bit of an oasis in the chaos that is Pattaya. It's located on a quiet little laneway off one of major road between Jomtien and Pattaya. While it's a quiet location, it's not really close to anything. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but otherwise you need to hop on a tuk tuk to get anywhere. The pool is the best asset - surrounded by luxurious foliage, comfortable loungers and cool drinks served. The rooms are nice enough, although a bit overdone as a previous commenter said. Overall it's a very relaxing spot - kind of the opposite of Pattaya.
One thing to note - they don't take credit cards, which in this day and age seems very odd. So bring lots of cash.

Despite my criticisms this does rank as one of my favourite hotels to just crash and forget ones problems in and it follows that one can easily have a most romantic stay here ! This tiny 8 room establishment lets you do your own thing, doesn't interfere and most of the time ,and doesn't even let you know there are other people around! It seems to be the quietest place around also...not a peep is heard from anybody or anything except the chirping birds. And not even the owner's lovely dog barks! The large swimming pool, taking up a good portion of the land area, is great, one of the best I have seen, and Le Prive's breakfasts(not included but reasonable) are hard to beat. You get your own key to the front gate, which is locked at night, and you come and go as you please, with whomever you please. When the place is full you might see others around the pool but once in your lovely room you feel like you're in your own little world. I couldn't think of a better place in Pattaya that one would stay in for total privacy and contemplation in a most beautiful setting.

But make sure you are in the mood for all of this! If not you might be bored out of your mind and long for some human traffic, children's noise and the hotel hustle and bustle atmosphere that many people desire when on holiday as well as the usual type of hotel rooms. The place is decorated throughout with beautiful Thai artefacts to the point of overkill and if alone I even feel the rooms somewhat "spooky" due to very dim and sparse lighting, dark woods, fabrics and walls and somewhat remote ( but attentive when required) French management who run this hotel efficiently, discretely and , in summary, very well indeed. There is a small lounge area by the pool with a bar and comfortable chairs and the lounge chairs around the pool are very comfortable and a pool towel is provided. Out of nowhere a waiter will appear to give you a glass of water or a drink as you lounge in the sun surrounded by beautiful trees and local vegetation.

Everything you can hope for is provided in the rooms for modern comforts...adjustable aircon, remote controlled fans, cable TV, bathroom amenities, minibar etc... but a warning: the pillows are dreadful, and a discredit to the expensive linens on the beds. So for the few times I have been there I have brought my own! The location is so-so, being midways between Pattaya and Jomtien, but plenty of transport is available and its just a short walk up to the main road. The parking is minimal with 1 or 2 spaces available for guests near the hotel .. and the room rates are certainly in the higher range for the locale.. .but many people would consider these few negatives as unimportant as I do when I am in the mood to make love and peace in one of the most pleasant and conducive settings that one could hope to find in Pattaya. Try it when you're in that frame of mind or even when you're not (as it might do wonders for you!)...

Room Tip: The biggest & best are in the main house

There are only 6 bungalows here. The grounds are filled with tropical plants and trees, surrounding the central swimming pool. The rooms are tastefully decorated with Thai ornaments.

The 2 French owners are charming, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area.

After hot and sweaty and hussle bassle day around pattaya and jomtien, this is the place you want to come back to. It really was a piece of quiet tranquil little green oasis where you can just relax and unwind after all the "sightseeing" in busy pattaya. Jean-louis and Jesus were the perfect hosts are very helpful to show us how to get around and all the "sights". all the staff are very friendly and made us a very nice brekky in the morning. We stayed in the standard room. The room is clean and just perfect, nothing extravaganza and nothing wonky. One wall in the room is a gallss window atrium (living wall) with small fountain and great to wake up to in the morning.

This is definitely not for a party animal that want to bring the "bar" back or for family with young children - this would disturb the tranquility and probably the other guests. during our stay, we spoke to a guy that have been there for 8 times!!!! and we are not surprised at all. that show how this place are just perfect for if you want some peace and tranquility to escape to.

le prive has no restaurant as such but has relaxing bar area with comfy chairs and can whip up a great continental or american style breakfast at just about any time of the day. at night there are restaurant at the end of the soi only 2 minutes walk away.
