Description: Legend Beer Restaurant which was set up in 2004 is located in the center of Hanoi’s old quarter and beside Hoan Kiem Lake, with the area of 300 m2 and the capacity of 100 seats. The restaurant with the classic style design has a beautiful open – air balcony where customers can enjoy the dream like view of Hoan Kiem Lake and bustling people streams around timeless ancient roofs.

This building is an icon in Hanoi and is know by a range of names from the sharks jaws, Ho Guom Plaza, Café View to the roundabout tower. The building looms over the southern edge of Old Quarter and provides no fewer than six different eating and drinking options on various levels. The most positive thing about it is the views: choose from vistas of Hoan Kiem Lake or the crazy road junction and Old Quarter rooftops. Unfortunately, getting to those views isn’t the most pleasant experience. The entrance to the upper floors is at 5 Dinh Tien Hoang, next to the entrance (lối vào) to the Tourist Information Centre which is on the ground floor, and is initially up a grotty staircase. You can then take the lift or continue up the stairs the rest of the way. Avalon is accessed via a separate entrance, on Cau Go opposite the end of Dinh Liet Street. Take the lift to the fifth floor. On the fifth floor itself is a mostly inside area, with a small balcony, and the sixth floor is a smoking area; unless you like your environment muggy I suggest walking quickly through and up the spiral staircase to the roof terrace. Western and Vietnamese food is served, along with a wide selection of drinks, including cocktails. It’s by no means cheap, but neither is it the priciest place in town, and it’s worth the price of a beer (around 50,000 VND) for an hour spent enjoying the views.

I've had beer here a few times, stopping to rest and recover after forays into the hectic streets of the Old Quarter. My willingness to pay their premium price for a beer was due to the view from the terrace and wanting to support a microbrewery. The beer was never anything special. But this last time their pale lager was badly oxidized and might have been developing an infection. In any case, it was difficult to finish and disappointing. Please review your brewing procedurs and clean you tap lines.

Close to the lake and the old sector, a excellent spot for a lazy hour or two people watch. Good service, with inside and outside seating, we sat outside to watch Hanoi street life pass by. As you over look a 5 road intersection that also contains a roundabout, it's fun to watch. The beer is cold, a little over priced for Hanoi but not by much, the food was fresh, came quick and was piping hot, no complaints. Easy to find and has free wifi, I would go again.

Great place for a beer. Mostly serving their own microbrewery beers (in up to 1L steins). Decent food. Fantastic views of bustling streets below and lake.

The view on the balcony that overlooks Hanoi and some of the lake it gorgeous! I sat and had dinner whilst watching the sun set over the busy streets of Hanoi. But sadly it didn't take away the poor service. The menu was great with plenty to choose from. I ordered a garden salad, with other friends ordering full cooked meals and larger courses. Mine was the last meal to get out on the table, about 20 minutes behind everyone else's. Not sure why a garden salad would've taken so much longer than the cooked meals....
