I booked this hotel because it was called 'Hanoi Mike's' and because it was really cheap and in the heart of old Hanoi, so I can't understand why anyone would be disappointed to find a singleted concierge in a grubby lobby, a dingy stairwell leading to French colonial doors leading to odd shaped rooms, some with Juliette balconies on a tree lined street with a view and ambience only marred by the halogen streetlights, public loudspeakers and occasional knife fights. This is Hanoi as we imagined it.
My room was - bizarre. Two huge doubles for less than $10.00. Breakfast was indescribable but all in all, a great place to slum it. Recommended. Sort of.More
