Stayed four nights at the Conifer. First the good: They are super attentive and respond immediately to any issues, and there were issues which I will get to. Everyone was super pleasant and tried to make my stay in Hanoi as positive as possible. Providing maps, suggestions, helping locate services, etc.
The location is great! On a quite side street in the old quarter, it was easy to walk to most of the places I was interested in. I think all of the rooms have a balcony which overlook the street, but mostly the tops of trees. The balcony was a pleasant place to sit and catch a breeze, even during rainy weather with a enough room for two chairs and a small coffee table.

The complementary breakfast was good, the service pleasant. Downstairs is a small bar in an even smaller lobby area. Directly in front of the hotel is a small sitting area which appears quite pleasant, making up for the lack of any real interior lobby.

A few things were not as good. The room was very small, including the bathroom. By the fourth day, I felt completely cramped. The bathroom had a dropped ceiling and a raised tub allowing exactly six feet. It felt awkward to me.

The television seemed complicated, requiring the use of two remotes to operate. Press the wrong button and the tv switches to a fuzzy screen with Chinese characters. I had to ask them three times to come and reset the television. Each time they came immediately and were very pleasant about it. Same thing when I discovered my door did not lock. They immediately addressed the issue, which took a total of 5 people and about an hour or more to fix. But they did fix it and without any delays or excuses.

Top quality hotel wonderfully positioned close to all major visitor sites. Personal service by quality staff. Excellent breakfasts and good room service menu. Quality rooms. Third visit and very consistent quality. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel for western travellers wanting to experience a wonderful piece of Ha Noi.

A smiley receptionist immediately upgraded me to higher room after realizing that I had a delayed flight. The place is great. Breakfast is good too. The bakery right in front of the door is owned by the hotel and has awesome coconut cookies. Good coffee is nearby too. Very happy to stay here.

From the moment we arrived at the Conifer I had a good feeling about the place. This was our first time in Vietnam and Hanoi was our first stop. We were immediately greeted by Frank who took our bags from the cab. Once inside we were greeted with a cool towel and tropical drink. Nice touch. Check in was flawless and quick thanks to Kate. . She briefed us on where and when the breakfast buffet was served. and exchanged currency for us. Frank proceeded to escort us and our luggage to our room where he showed us the where and how of our well appointed and large room. I applaud the manager Mr. Quan for an excellently run establishment. The food served on the terrace was excellent. And Trinh was our very pleasant waitress. In summary a great hotel made better by a smiling and eager to assist staff. Thanks for a great stay Frank, Kate, Arias, Jacky and Chung. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Stayed on the 8th floor with a balcony. The hotel is actually located in a quiet residential neighborhood.

Great location and very friendly, helpful staff. You have everything you need near this hotel ranging from Jazz Clubs, luxury dining, through to nightclubs and street food, something for everyone. Quite a cool vibe in the area and there are interesting places to explore everyday, if you so choose. The hotel air-conditioning is a welcome respite for the non-acclimatised traveller, the staff are knowlegeable and can arrange anything you need, all you need to do is ask...

Room Tip: Balconies on the street are nice but more city noise makes it in and this city is awake around the clock
