If you can spare a few coins, then pop past this fair trade shop in Hanoi. It is across from the temple of literature.

It has a huge range of fair trade products and this goes back into worthy organisations to support the ones that need it most.

Once you are done here, head back to Koto for a coffee to support street kids and getting them a leg up in this world.

This is an amazing shop - well two amazing shops actually!

The first we visited was full of beautiful silks, bags, scarves, and plenty of stunning little items that would make perfect gifts of our travels.

The second was focused more on homewares - dining settings, table runners, etc. we bought a number of beautiful vases.

All of the products are fair trade and help create sustainable industry, and they are all so beautiful and delicate.

Have fallen in love with this shop - and am repackaged suitcase to see if I can wrangle some more space for a few more items!

A must visit - along with the Temple of Literature and KOTO cafe

I strongly recommend this shop since it is part of a non-for-profit organization. Therefore, when you buy something you are helping traditional craft producers.

I must say that the prices were very fair (most of the products were even cheaper than in regular shops) and the quality was superb. I bought most of the souvenirs for family and friends here!

As other reviewers have pointed out, there are two Craft-Link shops in the same street, immediately across from the Temple of Literature, and the one we went into was the double-storied old building that specialises in textiles. The other shop, a few doors along, specialises in homewares. As you come out of the front entrance of the Temple, turn left and then cross over at the first intersection, before turning left again. The shops are about one block up.
The building itself is a wonderful example of Hanoi's rapidly vanishing architectural heritage. Climb up the stairs and, at the back of the room, there is a door which opens out onto a little balcony which looks straight across to the Temple of Literature. This leads into a third room.
All three rooms are crammed full of the most beautiful handicrafts, at extremely reasonable prices. We have visited a number of "Fair Trade" shops in various SE Asian countries, but we thought this was the best by far. Whilst Craft-Link is a not-for-profit organisation, that doesn't mean it isn't profitable. It is, in fact, quite profitable, but all profits are reinvested back into activities such as business development and training, product development, and marketing. Products are purchased direct from the people who make them, and this helps traditional craftspeople to make a living that they would not otherwise by able to contemplate. It is a very worthwhile concept, and one that we are always happy to try and support.
Opening hours are 9am to 6pm every day of the week.

Craft link is house in a double storey shophouse and is a co-op handicraft shop. It has an assortment of Vietnamese traditional crafts on display; ethnic wear, jewelry pouches, purses, bags, picture holders, scarves made from a variety of materials. If you have shopped in those markets in HCMC, or the ones at the French quarter, you would be able to see the intricate workmanship of Craft Link producers. Definitely worth a visit, and take your time to browse. It's easy to be carried away and buy. Many items on it's shelves make good gifts for friends and family members. No bargaining please.
