I only booked for two nights and decided to extend. The hotel provided me with the exact room I requested-the one with a big balcony over the beautiful pool. The Samnang is very boutique pretty. The lower floor is reception, pool and restaurant. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the poolside. The pool is salt water, very clean and a nice cooling temperature. Bouganvilla grows around the edges. My room was large with a bathroom and air conditioning. The staff was so wonderful. Always attentive and eager to make sure I was cared for. Since I was alone I appreciated this. I left for a few weeks and came back having decided I really liked this hotel and my second stay was just as pleasant. The room telephone was missing on the second stay because the interim guests children had damaged it. The neighborhood was friendly. I made some friends locally and highly recommend the Villa Samnang.

Room Tip: There are no noise problems. I loved the large balcony off my room. The bed was hard. Next time I...

Arriving at this villa you really do feel as if you have escaped the crazy of the city. The hotel receptionist was friendly and they upgraded our room.
Our first room however smelled like cigarettes. Im guessing that is because it was directly over the pool and bar area where they allow smoking.
They kindly moved us to a room on the second floor which was better.
However,
Under the beds and in the corners were very dusty.
You only get a bath towel, no handtowel or facecloth. There is also no basics like shower caps etc. there is soap in big bottles which had not been refilled.
The matress was the most uncomfortable bed ever! The thin foam layer was worn away and the springs were poking up. We flipped the mayress ourselves in the middle of the night - something Im sure had never been done - and this made it marginally better.
There is no phone in the room to call reception yet there is a list of phone numbers.

The atmosphere at the pool was strange, we felt as if we were intruding in someones personal space. We felt unwelcome. Luckily the pool was so cold we had no desire to swim any longer and retreated to our room.

The breakfast eggs actually tasted good, but the bacon was one tiny shrivelled up piece that was cold and the toast was also cold and hard. The coffee was served, good flavour but once again luke warm. We ordered more and it came hot. The ladies serving were too busy on their phones behind the bar to clear the plates or offer us anything else.

There was no offer to recomend things to do in the area even when we asked a guy at the front desk. He just kind of looked confused and told us to wait until 2 to go to the royal palace.

On the upside there is a great Italian resturant next door.

Dear Hazel and Sebastian,

We really appreciate you taking the time to write a review, but we are a bit stunned to read your review as we (Sitha the manager and staff) have had often good contact with you and your family. Your son played with my daughter on numerous occasions at the pool, so this looked good. We upgraded your room at no extra charges, changed also that room to another one when there was a smell.. Maybe for your next stay, talk to the staff about your findings... We always try to find a solution as the aim of our business is to make your stay a great one. Anyways we hope you had a good time after all and again, thanks for your review.

The hotel arrange pick up and drop off from airports which were very good. They were in a nice location, of the main road so it was not too loud.

Everything, including the hotel shut very early. The porter sleeps in reception.

The pool is nice and cold, just what we needed for the heat. Although, it did not get the sun much so no good for sunbathing. Also, there is lots of greenery around the pool area which attracts bugs and lots of mozzies. We were bitten quite bad in room and by the pool.

The food and drink were quite cheap and pleasant enough. The staff were helpful. Breakfast was decent.

The rooms we large and tidy. The only downfall was the aircon- it needed maintenance as it wasn't working very well.

Dear Emma, Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel and services. Its rainy season and as Cambodia is situated in a tropical part of the world there are always mosquito's present. We use prevention, but after a rainfall... the eggs hatch and mosquito's come out. We cannot do or advise anything else then to use a repellant, not only for our hotel, but everywhere when coming to South East Asia. Its also what we call 'low season'. Less people visiting so some attractions close earlier. We have about 100 restaurants within 500 meters of our hotel, so there always something open. Just ask the front desk staff.

We hope you had a good stay and hopefully we can welcome you soon again. All the best, Team Villa Samnang.

It was a great stay overall. We booked this hotel for a night and room was very clean, concierge service was excellent. The people that worked there was very friendly and kind, as I can say the same about most of Cambodians in that country.
