Is there a better watering hole in Phnom Penh? Not on your Nelly!

The decor is elegant, with witty touches (see photograph), the service is superb, and the resident pianist is wonderfully talented. If, like me, you enjoy sitting at the bar, then you'll be pleased to know that the bar stools are both stylish AND comfortable.

As with all luxury hotels, the bar boasts a huge range of liquors, liqueurs, wine and other alcoholic beverages (leaving aside those in France, it's the only hotel bar I know which stocks Dubonnet, one of my favourite aperitifs). The cocktails are magnificent - try the Pimms - stunning and served in a glass tea pot. The whisky aficionado will be delighted with the choice of single malts on offer and the French and South African red wines I sampled were very good.

The bar food is good and the appetizers I ordered including the spicy tuna Maki rolls and beef carpaccio, were excellent.

Given the hotel's long-standing reputation for excellence, the waiters are of course highly professional, charming, and well-turned out. And they have a subtle jocular bent which I admire.

A wonderful place to while away the evening (or afternoon - or both).

I shall return.

The name Raffles alone evokes great mental images as it does with other raffles Hotels. We visited it for pre-dinner drinks, arriving up its driveway to the front door in tuk tuks!! Probably not the expected mode of travel to Raffles considering that as we arrived so did long lines of Mercedes cars, black diplomatic cars, to attend some major event (though e weren't going to that!!). The doorman was dressed in a traditional Cambodia costume and was very friendly and welcoming -- even posing with us for a photo! We enjoyed our drinks, expensive by any standard, in the bar which, by the Raffles classic standard, was fairly ordinary in design.

Read thru the review as seems the given reviewed online seems provided a misconception towards this place.
Overall the hotel is kind of old with colonial feels,I believed hotel management has just maintained well but no improvement.
Hotel reception can spokes minimal English, friendly with necessary helps given at all time.
We will need to pass thru an aircon smoking room before heading to residential area- smell badly!
Room is kind of old style ; wooden creations; still using traditional key to lock/ unlock the room - kind of disappointed as per security perspective.
Locker near to balcony and main door were both damaged - I will need to close it very hard by pulling very hard to get it locked properly.
Air conditioning leaking since day one- as seems management has no intention to main customer based properly.
Breakfast- frankly speaking I don’t dare to eat much food as flies were all around those foods and limited choices.

Having been to Raffles in other parts of Asia, I was super-intrigued to see how Raffles Phnom-Penh would shape up and I wasn't disappointed.

As ever, perfect location - in the heart of PP and super-easy to get around. The staff are as attentive as ever, without ever being intrusive. Stunning pool and relaxation area outside to soak up the wonderful Cambodian climate.

For me the best part of this Raffles is the Elephant Bar though. The drinks from the fabulous mixologists are made to perfection and if there isn't anything on the extensive menu, they'll gladly make it for you.

I can particularly recommend the whisky sour and caipirinha. Whilst daily from 4pm to 9pm, there is a tremendous happy hour - with all drinks 50% off.

Spent the last night of our trip at Raffles, in complete contrast to the adjacent ultra-modern Rosewood where we began our trip. While so different, Raffles had the benefit of history, staying in the historic wing with outlook to the pools. While small, the bedroom and entrance area were superbly appointed with a full bathroom adjacent. Service was good from pick up at airport and hotel has a great central location. Has the fantastic addition of so much outdoor space including two swimming pools in the central courtyard area.

Hotel highly recommended and we would have loved to stay longer and experience more of the hotel.
