Yet another difficult but important place to visit when staying in Phnom Penh. Killing fields showcase the scale of genocide under Khmer Rouge in 1975-1979 as one of more than 300 places of the type in Cambodia. Make sure to use audio guides and behave respectfully. Surely not suitable for kids.

Not as well known I think as the Holocaust but in some ways even more brutal and sad and distressing.
Just to try and imagine the hand to hand torture and killing that took place here. What an utter waste of human life and suffering.
You just ask yourself Why?
Situated about 15km south west of central Phnom Penh
A must see while in Phnom Penh together with S21.

This is a heartbreaking place, as you see the skulls and bones of ordinary Cambodians who were murdered by the Pol Pot regime. Unspeakable cruelty, yet a testament to the spirit of the Cambodian people who say they forgive but do not forget. Recommended visit.

This was a really sad place to visit but also really important to get a feel for the atrocities that occurred during the Khmer Rouge regime. It can be quite confronting as there are still bones coming up through the ground however it is worth visiting in addition to Tuol Sleng. I'd recommend getting the audio guide.

This place is a sad place but an important one to visit to pay respect to Cambodia’s troubled past.
Highly recommend the audio guide which is easy to navigate and well narrated.
