We got the restaurant recommendations from a friend who travelled with us and went hunting for Makphet. They have shifted their location but conscious efforts on direction signage can be spotted. If all fail, just ask the locals. The food was great and drinks are really cheap, especially during happy hour where they extended 50% off. We ordered green mango salad (recommended), Lao Whisky marinated beef fillet, crispy rice cake with tofu and vegetables (recommended) and pork fillet with mushrrom and cashew nuts. All were good except that the beef was too hard. You have a choice of steamed rice or sticky rice to go along. For beverages, we ordered beer lao (light and good), sticky rice whisky shot with sundried beef, Frozen hibiscus cocktail and frozen mango cocktail. Go for the frozen cocktails, they are good. The whisky shot was really strong, try it only if you like strong alcohol. Their cocktails are refreshing and dishes were palatable. Only downside is that the restaurant is really warm, though they have a lot of fans. Go for alfresco seating if possible.
