Santral museum was nearly empty the day we visited which was great for photos - the old power plant is still in great condition and made for gorgeous haunting photos of the enormous, silent generators. The control room looks like something out of a Mad Max movie, so cool !! We spent an hour taking photos in the power plant, and tried out some of the hands-on electrical exhibits. It's all free. The grounds of the university are very calm and peaceful, with a couple nice cafes. You can take a free shuttle bus to Santral from the bus station at Kabatas. Highly recommended!

This former power plant is now a well maintained energy museum with some interactive exhibits that the kids will love! There's also an on-site cafe serving up surprisingly good food. This is near to the Pierre Loti cafe so a good day out for 2 attractions.

This is an old electricity factory if I understood it right. So it is showing how it looked like in one of those old ones. They had some hands-on energy expositions at that time there too - it was very interesting to try them out. And everything was for free.

The old power station now turned into a power museum. Nicely done. The old building was saved from collapsing. The original layout amd old machinery kept in very good condition. Lower floor is somewhat like a teaching center for the visitors. Large space and a very comforting atmosphere. Well concieved and apllied.

This is a great museum made of an old power plant, with energy exhibits in the basement and the generating station turned into a large exhibit area. There are cutaways showing the inside of the generation equipment, and the control room is intact. The museum is on a university site (Santral) and it's a pleasant place to walk around. The attached art museum was closed and being worked on when we were there. There's a free bus from Taksim Square.

Note that while there's an elevator and escalator they don't provide full access to the generator station.
