I've stayed here three times now in the last three years in both the hostel-style rooms and the hotel rooms. The hostel rooms are about what you'd expect: average, but they're also very cheap. They don't have AC, the bunk beds are short, and the bathroom is all-in-one with the toilet, sink, and shower-head all in the same area. The hotel rooms are quite nice with AC units, traditional bathrooms, and normal beds. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace is beautiful in the mornings, and the breakfast is a traditional Turkish breakfast of tomatoes, cucumbers, cheeses, and bread. Some mornings there was French toast.

Bulent and his wife are very nice, speak English very well, and can offer all sorts of recommendations for restaurants and attractions, offer tips on visiting the popular tourist sites, and even led me to a good laundromat once.

The hotel location is excellent from a tourist standpoint: it backs right up to the Blue Mosque, is a 5 minute walk away from the Hagia Sofia and Basilica Cisterns, and is a 10-15 minute walk away from the Grand Bazaar if you learn your way around the back streets. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Sultanahmet stop on the tram-line too, so you can get to other parts of the city by hopping on the tram, including the airport (you'll have to switch lines to get on the Metro at Zeytinburnu, but it's pretty easy).

This great location offers only one negative: the early morning Muslim call to prayer from the Blue Mosque, which is the largest mosque in Istanbul, is quite loud, and can certainly wake you up if you're a light sleeper. It's been about 50-50 for me on the 20 or so total days I've spent at Yunus Emre as to if I'm awakened by it or not, and some rooms on the backside of the hotel seem to be worse than others. That's a minor complaint, and if you keep your windows closed or use earplugs, you'll likely not even notice it.

Room Tip: Hostel rooms don't have AC and are way less comfortable than the hotel rooms, but that is to be expected with hostel rooms. For hotel rooms, try to get a room closer to the front of the building (southwest side) and away from the back (northeast side) as the early morning prayer is louder in the back rooms.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the old city this is good value and perfect location - 2 mins to Sultanahmet Square and Blue Mosque .
We needed to add extra days to our booking at last minute and they were extremely helpful to find us rooms .
The owner Bulent, his family and staff are charming , smiling and helpful !
If you're looking for luxury this is not for you and if you want housekeeping you must ask but it is great value which is not easy to find in Istanbul.

Room Tip: Room 401 - a double - on top floor

we visited Istanbul in the month of Feb 2011, not the best time but ya just the onset of spring. while making the reservations the lady at the reception was very helpful and responded to emails regularly and gave us all the information that we required. The hotel provides a free pick up from the airport but this is only from the Ataturk airport and its just one way pick up there was no drop facility. our flight was at 4 30 am inspite of that the driver was already waiting there so we were pleasantly surprised. the drive from the airport is about 25 mins without any traffic. there are shared cabs services available from the hotel back to the airport the receptionist will help you with that. The hotel is just a 10 min walk from the main city area all the attractions are at a walking distance. The rooms were just about ok. There was a slight confusion on the kind of room we booked and the one we got so were disappointed with that. The breakfast sucks! it was just boiled egg and bread. Overall just an average place only because of its location i give it a 3 rating

I've been their end of November 2012 and the room was dirty including the bed, sheets and the floor and the breakfast was very basic and I moved to near by hotel although I've already paid in advance for four days(my mistake).

Room Tip: find another hostel

I've stood both at the hotel room and the basement dorm for 10 days, I enjoyed the friendly approach of Bulent the receptionist and the two workers Nafas and Jelal which were very friendly and helpful.
The lobby can get very hot but the atmosphere is inviting.
The rooms are basic and the dorm is very damping and no air conditioning, though the breakfast
is nice and fresh!
(don't forget to tip the workers)

Room Tip: Get a room on the third and ask for new bed sheets!
