I really love this place. Excellent food, excellent chef and people who work there, excellent music. The mood is upbeat and amazing. If you visit Jerusalem you should try it. They are so nice and engaging.

Machneyuda is one of the hottest tables in Jerusalem! This chef-driven restaurant was all about having a good time—there was loud blasting music, and the wait staff took shots with diners all throughout the night! The food was indeed creative, taking influence from local flavors and ingredients, but putting unique spins on everything! We started with the Fattoush salad, made of sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, olives, labneh, crunchy pita chips, all topped with plenty of sumac and goat cheese, all for a strong salty, sour, and creamy flavor. We next had the perfectly cooked, smokey calamari with tomatoes and a crouton served over a creamy puree. Our final starter was the amazing, umami-filled polenta, which came with lots of mushrooms, asparagus, shaved parmesan cheese, and truffle oil! All three of the starters were amazing and definitely worth trying, but shortly thereafter came the meat dishes.

First, we had the shikshukit, cooked ground meat dressed with yogurt and tahini and served with a mini pita on the side. This was good, but I can’t say it was so much better than what you’d get as a typical street food kebab in the area (though obviously the ingredients here were of much better quality). Our main course was the lamb T-bone steak, and the four perfectly grilled and juicy pieces came with a dollop of yogurt, spring onion, and a cherry tomato romesco sauce. Both dishes were great, but I have to more highly recommend the first three starters we tried, which all came in generous portion sizes (at least in comparison to typical starters).

We were in this market at dinner after reading the guide and some internet sites. The stalls were closed but the restaurants were open. We ate at the Famous Restaurant Machneyuda. Very nice to visit
