This is also known as the Iranian Souq or Fruits and Vegetable Souq. There are actually 4 souqs in very near proximity in an older area of Kuwait City. Major parts have had a facelift that includes a new facade and a roof covering. The roof covering is great as it protects you if and when it might rain in Kuwait and more importantly, from the beating down sun. There are gold, clothing, electronics, perfume, currency exchanges, There are dozens of eating establishments including an urban renewed area with about a dozen cafes hosting coffee and the hooka. It is just a fun place to hang out and even make a purchase or two. Be ready as prices are not marked and negotiating is the norm. Also, beware that unfortunately, there are some counterfeit items in the area as well. A friend bought 2 Dallas Cowboy jerseys for 1 Kuwaiti Dinar each or about $3.27 each. There are great juice bars to get your fresh squeezed juices. Localized food options abound. There is good underground paid parking which will keep your car out of the sun and cooler. The souq is family friendly.
Personally this is one of my favourite locations in kuwait as I come here and could spend hours upon hours walking around and having a feel of old kuwait, for shopping this place is recommended although it doesn't have big brands it's more of a local brands and clothing/perfumes/accessories and so on. Other then shopping there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to enjoy all over the market. Try walking around explore the market and you would have fun, there are even other stores and restaurants that vary from Indian to Pakistani if your looking for those flavours. I would recommend you visit on weekdays as the weekends become packed with tourists, expatriates and locals.
This one of my favorite place in city are, every one who is in kuwait must see this place to feel the history of kuwait, this souq is well preserved and maintained. also there is everything available what you want to buy.
This is the old souk area, and famous by the name " ladies market". It is adjacent to Mubarakiyah market. Many shops offer local clothing/ dresses and drinks. Local cafes are also available with local traditional drinks and food.
