I fly to Doha at least two times a month for business and I always choose this hotel. They have recently upgraded to a marquis and will continue to improve their amenities as time continues. Although there is no direct beach access, I find the staff helpful, the beds more comfortable than the other hotels, and I have a great stay every time I visit.
Here are my ratings for the attributes I consider most important. .
Room Details: Room Cleanliness 4/5 – I have never had to request for a new room due to a dirty room. Everything is always spotless. However, on numerous occasions I have had to request a room change because it reeked of cigarette smoke.
Food 4/5 – I have eaten at the following establishments located within the Hotel. Even if none of these sound appealing, you are connected to the mall which provides a multitude of options.
Lounge 3.5/5 – They are currently upgrading the lounge but right now, for being free, the food is decent. They provide breakfast and food/beverages every night. The menu gets old week after week but it has improved since becoming the Marquis.
Glo 3.5/5 – Less crowded and smoky than Champions but the food is no better than the lounge. The bartenders are knowledgeable and take care in making drinks correctly (Old Fashioned, Martinis, etc).
Crossraods 4/5 – Great for breakfast.
Champions 2.5/5 – Typical sports bar. Extremely smoky coupled with mediocre service and decent food for a bar. I only go here if they are showing a football match I cannot watch anywhere else. You can get much better food and not smell like a chimney at the steakhouse around the corner.
New York Steakhouse 4/5 – Great food, great service, and not smoky. This is my favorite place to eat when I am in the Hotel.
Gym 2.5/5 – The gym is larger than the Hilton but is still inadequate. They have the standard cardiovascular equipment, free weights up to 25 kg, one Smith machine, and your typical spread of machines working various muscle groups. They do not have a proper bench or squat rack.
Pool 4/5 – The pool is a great spot to sit and relax or swim laps. There are lounge chairs or cabanas if you want shade as well as a bar.
Wi-Fi 4/5 – They recently upgraded their Wi-Fi and now I have no issues streaming video to my devices.
Bed 4/5 – The bed is extremely comfortable; way better than the Hilton. I always have a good night’s sleep.
Executive Lounge 3.5/5 – They provide breakfast in the morning, snacks throughout the day, and dinner/drinks at night. The food isn’t bad, but I cannot eat this every single day I stay in the hotel.
