I was in search of a special place to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary and after some asking around decided to try out the new Indian restaurant, Tamba. Indian food is DH’s favourite and Tamba (located at WTC’s The Hub) defines itself as ‘Indian inspired cuisine’. The menu is full of unconventional combinations and fusion flavours. We tried Delhi Mix: a quinoa bhel puri, King Crab Puri: a pani puri with fresh crab, Bombay Bhaji Rolls: pao bhaji stuffed in a roll and Lamb Kofta: round kebabs with foie gras filled centers.
Our mains consisted of the 48hrs Slow Cooked Lamb and the Mangalorean Chicken.
The contemporary twist to some of India’s most loved street foods delighted and surprised us.
At the end of our meal as we were waiting for our dessert (aptly named Lady Chatterjee with lots of popping candy), the staff surprised us with Fireworks candles and a complimentary dark chocolate mousse dessert called The Break-Up. They also handed us a card and a pair of metal bells. One bell was ours to keep while we had to tie the second bell on their ‘wishing wall’ located in the outdoor seating area.
Not only was the food exceptional, the Tamba staff went out of their way to make our anniversary unforgettable. The metal bell enjoys a prominent place in our living room and our dinner at Tamba surpassed all expectations and remains our most enjoyable and diverse meal.
