Al Falaj is the open air Bedouin style restaurant at the Qasr al Sarab resort in the Liwa desert. It’s located just outside the resort in the desert with magnificent dunes in the background and under a breathtaking starry sky. The resort offers free buggy transport to the location, however it is a short and very nice walk. It’s BBQ style, just go and help yourself. In one of the tents they bake the bread for the evening. For tall people like me the seating is not that comfortable; one sits low to the ground on sofas with low tables. The atmosphere, however, is very pleasant and relaxed. There is some entertainment, a camel driver and a falconer come along with their animals. The setting is just great. Staying at the Qasr al Sarab one should certainly experience a Bedouin style dinner at Al Falaj. Fokko Wolthuis

Dear Mr. Wolthuis,

Thank you very much for your comment about outdoor Bedouin style restaurant.

It is nice to read your positive comments about the whole experience. However I also take note about the low sitting table for tall people as you which might not be comfortable.
Please on your next visit, do not hesitate to place the reservation via myself and I will make sure you will have a classic setting for yourself.

Again thank you very much for your stay with us and I am looking forward to welcoming you again soon.

Kind regards,

My wife and I dined here our first night at the Qasr Al Sarab. It is a great dining experience, the staff is super friendly and attentive, the ambience you can't beat being on a sofa on top of persian rugs surrounded by the stars and sand dunes and the food is delicious (an open BBQ that you can eat till your hearts content). They even have a camel that comes for an hour that you can take photos with, tents that are put up if you require shelter (when we went it was hot so better to be outside but if it's windy and cold I can see the use for them). They serve arabic cuisine (meza appetizers and arabic sweets at the end) along with all the kabobs you can eat. Definitely a worthwhile experience. Definitely try it out if you are at the Qasr Al Sarab resort.

We had fabulous Arabian food under the stars here, the food was lovely and plenty of it. A real experience with turkish rugs on the sand, sitting on couches under the stars. We went with the alcohol option which worked well and we had a skisha too just to add to our experience. Loved it.

Do not miss this Bedouin dining experience if you stay at Qasr Al Sarab: dinner in the desert under the stars. It's a great experience, especially because of the excellent service and very friendly staff. Although within walking distance of the resort, I would still recommend to arrange buggy transportation. One sits on low sofas in a square, the sand bottom is covered with carpets; the setting is very informal. The concept of Al Falaj is a set menu where one can choose from including or excluding alcoholic beverages. Starter is a large selection of mezzes and followed by a very generous barbecue. Relax and enjoy the traditional music! The bar is accommodated in a Bedouin tent.
