We booked the hotel because we really liked the look of the pool area, but once we got there we were told the pool was going to be under maintenance for our whole stay of 7 nights. Absolutely no communications about any of this and we got no official apology or any sort of a discount (we requested free breakfast since that meant they didn't have to give any money back to us).

The only response was to tell us the website has a notification about an annual pool maintenance, but turns out it was in the bottom of the fine print (on booking.com) when we went searching for it and even this was only added recently (way after we had already booked). Their own website had no mention of it at all...

Sound proofing is a real issue as well, the carpets are razor thin and you can hear every step from upstairs.

Add in the fact that everything is just old and poorly maintained, and you can see how we were somewhat... disappointed.

We stayed in a premium room. Balcony overlooked the bay for lovely sunset views. The room was spacious however the bed contained a heavy doona and no top sheet so it was too warm for the weather.
They provided no hand soap for the basins in the bathroom. The shower/bath was very dangerous having a very high wall, sloping floor and nothing to hang onto getting in and out.
The free Wi-Fi was a joke. 250mb was half used up just doing online check-in for our flight. We only wanted to check our emails and catch up with family in Australia, but the allocation ran out. We stayed in 4 other hotels throughout New Caledonia and all provided free unlimited Wi-Fi even way up north at Poum.
The buffet breakfast was extremely expensive at $105 for 2 including the 10% discount. Better to go down the street to Le Fare for half that amount.
