We had to choose a hotel for a one night stay due to the difficulties transiting between Noumea International Airport (La Tontouta) and the domestic airport for flights to Ile Des Pins (Magenta). Travellers should be aware to leave sufficient time for transfers (at least 3-4 hours) when planning to transit on the same day. The two airports are far apart.
Given the options and not wanting to spend the exorbitant rates coomon in Noumea, we chose this hotel.
First the good: the location is good, being on the Anse Vata and near some restaurants and shops (e.g. La Promenada).
The bad: the hotel has definitely seen better days; the decor, fittings and amenities all seem from the 70s; there is a pervasive smell of mustiness throughout; it was also quite noisy on the promenade outside with people gathering and drinking throughout the night; the beds were worn and uncomfortable and the airconditioner noisy and ineffective.
This hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. If you don't mind 'roughin it' for a night or two it would be OK, otherwise try for better options elsewhere.More
